Although a horror it wasn't really all that scary to me (although i didn't see it in theaters which could be a factor in the horror rating.) It was far more about ethics and putting in the fear of crossing the line with genetic engineering. Which was effective cause it disturbed the shit ou of me and made me mentally repeat WHAT-THE-FFFFFUCK from beginning to end. In the end It was an average movie with the highlight of it showing every sci-fi fan addicts wet dream . But I felt the ending was straight up bullshit, then again it could be a confirmation to how crazy that chick really was.

Based on the audiences reception your analysis seems accurate. I saw it on HBO and like I said before not worth picking up.

I atually did see that movie in the theater. If I were to vote between 1-10 on how I liked it, I would have to give it a negative 0. And then divide by -0 just to destroy the memory of it in my brain.
