The US gave me my favourite genre of music and band so thumbs up for that I guess.

It is also home to esoteric imperialism.

Damn, I never really thought about what dude said up there, but check these incarceration rate statistics:

Prisoners per 100,000
US: 743
Russia: 595
UK: 156 (!!!)
China: 122

Well shit.
But anyways, the United States is built on capitalism, I can't really fuck with it, it causes more suffering that the happiness it creates.

Sounds like it could be misused by them if it makes up part of their salary. Doesnt seem like its used in much of Europe though.

I mean, the Brits had a bona fide empire for hundreds of years. The U.S. is only imperialistic in the economic sense, which really doesn't matter.

Controlling an economy is pretty much absolute control, it leaves that government at the mercy of the country pulling the strings I cannot believe you said it doesn't matter. It locks countries in poverty and allows for disgracefully low priced natural goods to be exported from there. The governments are unable to add subsidies or taxes or the controlling nation will punish them economically and put them further into the shitter until a puppet government is put in.

This is not an I art holy than thou speech, because every developed nation does this, but how the fucking fuck you can say this doesn't matter is beyond me. It's imperialism, but imperialism is OK? Talking shit me thinks.

I didn't say it's a great city, but I'm not saying it isn't either. It's a city where many of the best universities in the world, and a source of entertainment and media companies. Many movies are produced and shot there, and many music record companies are there. Many celebrities reside there. Disneyland is nearby.

This whole "this is better than that" leads nowhere. I think Europe is pretty good in general and my country is good as well. But nearly everybody likes to think that the place they live at is pretty good, right?

There are some cool things about the USA, but also some very annoying things. For example the food. It starts with the bread: Most bread is so damn soft that you can squeeze it together that it is only about 2cm thick and when you stop squeezing it reverts to it's original form. Also, the bread tastes very... strange.
The beer isn't also that good.
The water system is fucked up. Seriously, you have to put chlorine in your water supply or else it makes you sick. You have to buy your water from the supermarket. Where I live I can drink directly from the tap and there's no additions to the water. No chlorine, no nothing. Where I live, there's a pretty good public transportation system that gets me about anywhere in the city I want and almost any time of the day I want, etc. .

But also where I live, people can be very unfriendly and not very welcoming towards strangers. Where I live, bureaucracy is fucked up to the max. You have to fill out forms for almost everything, nothing seems to work unless there's some one who tells the people that it is okay, etc. .

So in conclusion: Every place has it's advantages and every place has it's disadvantages.

PS: "Healthcare for everyone" is a concept that the people of the USA shouldn't be afraid of. It has nothing to do with "communism", you know?

It doesn't really matter. Chlorine makes water clean and usually doesn't leave any aftertaste.

Whenever I drank from a public tap when I was in the US I felt like I have to puke. (yes, I'm a slow learner. I drank three times from a public tap >_>. But hey, I was very young at that time!)

Maybe you can get used to the chlorine, but I'm happy we don't have that shit in our water. And our water is clean as well. ^^

There's bureaucracy in the U.S. too, unfortunately. I won't lie about that.

Of course, it depends on what we're talking about here, because it does vary.

I think german bureaucracy is one of the worst.

Few people in the U.S. think it has anything to do with "communism." It's just that we think it's socialistic, and many of us oppose it due to our perceptions of universal healthcare being inefficient, bureaucratic, and generally inferior, which may or may not be true.

Granted, I don't know enough about the current healthcare system in the US to really get into an argument about what's wrong with it adn what could be better. I was just surprised that many people reacted as if Obama said "And tomorrow this country is going to be called 'New Russia'!"
But maybe that was a false image that was portraied in the media.
