i think that the guillotine should be brought back as a method of execution. it is painless because the blade kills you instantly unlike lethal injection. what do you guys think?

Actually there have been cases of the head living 5-10 seconds after decapitation.

It seems a little gory and innefficant. I'm all for the death penalty for those who's crimes are severe enough but there is no reason to make it cruel.

I have nothing against people who can use pot and lead a productive life. It's these sanctimonius hippies that make me wish I was a riot cop in the 60's

Why not take the condemned and drop an enormous concrete block on them, enormous to the point of 100 tons.

It would be painless (they would be crushed and dead at the moment of impact).

It would be cheap.

It would be unsurvivable (unlike, say, hangings or firing squads).

I agree with him... Guillotine was used in france right up until '78 and it worked... but rocks would definitely be better

naw you need to tourcher em' for the horrible acts the commited like we can crucify them let them sit there an hour then get them down get midics to heal him a little and them put gun poweder in his mouth hold it open throw a match in and watch as he twitches in pain then we can always inject boiling oil into thier eyes and make them eat metal spiked balls or cut their hearts and livers out slowly

ya, i guess it could be brought back, but it would probably be seen by certain parent groups or something as inhumane, barbaric, and gross.

We have some good systems right now anyways, so why try to fix something that not broken?

(yes, i know that death penalties can't be broken, you know what i mean)

The whole point of using lethal injection is that it didnt hurt. You could also use a gas chamber.

I think lungs collapsing and choking is painful. The guillotine would be useful and cheap, but sometimes you can be conscience for 5 or 10 seconds. Rocks? Um...Yeah, I wouldn't do that. A painful, torture? What's wrong with your head? You're a sick man. You should at least forgive the criminal a little. It's like castrating a man for a crime. That's just wrong.

Yes, the gore is a bit of a problem. Personally, if the death penalty were to be used, I think it should be Lethal Injection. It definately seems the safest way that comes to mind.

but i doubt when they killed someone they tried to do it in the most painless way possbile. the guilotine worked in france into the 50s and detered crime because people feared it.

Why should it be painful? The death penalty isn't a very good deterrant to crime, a painful one wouldn't work any better because its still going to be done. I've heard, (I havn't researched it yet, if someone wants to feel free to to prove me right or wrong) that executing someone costs more than just putting them in prison for life, and if thats true, why not just get rid of the death penalty, and keep them all in for life. I know prison crowding, but how many people are generally killed every year? (again I don't know, if someone wants to find out please do tell) That way you can look at the figures and see if its going to make overcrowding really any worse than before.

Or could always take a state that no one lives in, like Wyoming, build a big wall around it and make that a prison.

And not all murders are brutal, not all murders are the killing of a husband and wife. And not all people on death row are guilty.

So killing perfectly innocent people is fine with you as long as some of the guilty are punished as well.

I hope you never run for office.

Try dropping them head first into an industrial sized mincer: The brain is pulp before the message of pain reaches it, so therefore no pain is felt and the executed can then become very useful. As fertiliser
