The Secret

Wow, I just watched this "movie" called The Secret. Don't waste your time. It's a bunch of new aged hippie crap designed to pull at the hearts (and wallets) of people who go around thinking about how bad their lives suck. The people who walk into the self-help section and can't even buy a book they are so lazy, they have to watch a DVD, are truely a different breed. In my defense, I only watched it because it was on netflix and my wife said it was supposed to be something about how to become a millionaire. She hasn't seen it though, so I'm not knocking her. What this movie really does is bore you to death for over an hour and a half with these people talking into the camera, trying to pump up the viewer to think that through sheer "feelings" we can have anything, because the "universe the provide". You know, I can understand that this might be good for those who lack direction. Some people feel they need a purpose before they blow their brains out, but what the fuck man. I want my time back. I can't "imagine" one million dollars and it would just appear. It would take hard work. Thumbs down.

If only! But no. I thought it would at least be somewhat entertaining, but I should have known better from the format, and the whole spiritual hippie vibe I got from it from the very beginning. I don't know what I really expected. To tell you the truth, I don't know why I didn't shut it off. I wanted to the whole time.

But now that I've seen it, I can at least say I watched the whole thing, understood the message, and can honestly say it's trash designed for getting money out of sad sacks and unhappy housewives.

The basic message was that if you truely felt like you would attain something, you no doubt would through mind power.

I found the whole thing stupid. And the way it tried to mix in quotes from the likes of Einstein to Martin Luther King Jr. was just laughable.

Either way, the way the directors made their millions was by telling others that there was a way to, and would be found out only in the movie.

I think it was more because my wife said it was supposed to be good, and her aunt swore by the book version of the movie.
But funny story.

Exactly. And the audience walked away with nothing important. I should make a video, and not try to hide behind any false intentions. It will be a movie about making millions of dollars off morons who buy self help movies... "And YOU can TOO! Just buy my DVD to find out The Secret."

a name like that becomes alluring. it not only plays on uncertainty, but also things like "Forbidden knowledge", and the general feeling for security.

My thoughts exactly. And the worst part is that my sister believes in that crap and she says that thanks to the secret all her goals will be made in long term. I call that bullshit.

I haven't seen the movie but I read the book and it sounds like the exact same shit as in the movie because they made a reference to the movie at least 50 times in like 100 pages. Apparently the universe will provide you what you want if you keep thinking about it. The whole load of bullshit it's just a simple way of saying " Think Positively "

Biggest waste of time and I assume the movie is just as big of a waste as the book

Was it by chance based on the book "The Secret"? I saw that's one of the most reviewed books on Amazon, but most reviewed doesn't mean good, as it only managed to get 2 and a half stars out of four for most reviews, which is pretty low on that website. It also appeared on Cracked.com where they were talking about self help books that could hurt you. Granted, I never read the whole of that article, but I could understand what they meant.
