I already knew that. I'm pretty sure they believed that the world would end and then be reborn, but it's been a while since I last discussed this and probably don't remember very accurately. You may want to avoid calling people idiots on such short notice.

Wow, that is some replies you have there. But just for your info, the year 12012 is basically the same thing as 2012, only that I simply added the number 1 in front it. Similarly, the current year can be written as 12011 instead of 2011 and so on.

12011 is actually the current Human Era year - The H.E. calendar dates back to roughly the time humans started building civilizations (10000 BC), and is fully compatible with our current calendar (BC years are a little tricky due to the lack of a year 0).

Not only is the Mayan calender a circle, they said a pretty long time ago already that it was decoded incorrectly, it end ins 2201 or something, not 2012...
