Yeah, well, even though America has laws on Cannabis, it isn't as strict as some countries' cannabis laws, which is good.

Do you mean actual laws or the local-cartel-burns-you-alive-in-a-tire laws?
I mean it's always weird. You'll get places where they don't give you freedom of speech but they do grant you freedom of hookers and drugs, or places where you can just carry around a rocket launcher on your shoulder but you might get publicly flogged for sex outside of marriage.
It's a vague question.

I provided an example there, because sometimes laws aren't enforced very strongly and other times things that aren't even real laws are enforced very strictly.
A town might be run entirely by your drug cartel or terrorist organization or mafia family, are we taking that into account?

Easy list. Holland (Netherlands), Canada, and Italy to an extent are the most liberal on laws as a whole.

I know I might be a bit biased here, but I think the Netherlands is indeed one of the most liberal countries in the world.
Of course there's the "gedoog policy" on soft drugs, but it's also the very first country where gay marriage was legalized. Furthermore, smoking and drinking alcohol is legal from the age of 16 and I believe the laws on prostitution are also pretty loose.

Whoever it is, it's definitely not the US - even if you're far from the strictest. I'd agree with many people whom suggest Holland, mainly concerning their drug laws. The Swedish are known for having less obtrusive piracy laws (something the US has moved even further away from), possibly due to the Piratpartiet actually finding some success there unlike everywhere else, even if just a bit.

It may have changed since then as the original owners get in more and more shit, however I believe that it was founded somewhere around Scandinavia, Sweden if I recall correctly. I remember hearing that another company bought it out recently, and that may be a Dutch one.

Somalia is a law-less country, you can do what the hell you want their. In fact a lot of African countries have very little in way of government, law or security... International waters are also law-less so anyone who has a big boat must be into some kinky shit out at sea :)

Although perhaps this is true, the thing is that although many parts of the nation aren't under government control, many parts are under Islamist control and thus I would assume actually have pretty strict de facto laws even if as a whole society is rather on the anarchic side.

I think the country that has the most freedom is the Netherlands. I have no idea what the list is of the most free countries in the world, but from what I heard, it's many places in Scandanavia which also happen to be the happiest and most prosperous countries.

probably the netherlands- if you think that the UK's laws are liberal, then you must live in Baghdad- if you think the US's laws are casual, then you must live in Germany circa 1940 or Russia circa 1965

Nope, if anything Africa's still a Christian stronghold. But even if their were a Christian or Islamic influence, its still law-less, you can pretty much get away with murder :)
That is why their are millions of refugees the world over trying to escape that hell.

When I first heard about how every country in Scandanavia was fairly prosperous, I thought it might be because of the temperature as all of the countries I heard that are in crisis, namely the Middle East are all in hot areas. I know that correlation is not causation, but I had a teacher who actually said that this was most likely true. Of course, countries with low temperaturs generally don't have a high population anyway.

Interesting conclusion you came to there, especially since they've recently passed a bill that means that they can arrest and detain any american citizen indefinitely.. Don't get me wrong, I love americans but I think that the american legislation system is a joke.
2.) U.K.
By no means the most liberal out there... If I had to pick it'd be close between Switzerland and perhaps Holland, New Zealand or India.

America is definitely casual, only 1-in-3 black people in this country will be convicted of a crime in their lifetime. And the cops here? Pshh, they just sit at the station all day and twiddle their thumbs.
