I sat down with Dallas native and dance party expert Vincent Nguyen. Nguyen, an 19-year-old college student currently residing in Garland, said Newgrounds has the potential of becoming something that could revolutionize the Internet, and even competing with the hot websites such as YouTube or Facebook. Even though YouTube is a video website and Facebook is used primarily for social networking, Newgrounds could be innovative in terms of a way of social networking but also relevant to Flash animations.
"Newgrounds just has so much going on, and there's so much the heads of Newgrounds can do, such as Tom or Wade, who have the ability to turn Newgrounds into a monster... but a monster that kicks ass, of course," says Nguyen, the aspiring artist. However, this Dallas native says Newgrounds also has the ability to change itself so much that it would become unrecognizable for the veteran users, but he knows the people running Newgrounds are not those kind of people who will just sell out, because he believes Newgrounds is a site run by down-to-earth people who care about their users.

what have we done?

When enough people realize creating stuff is more fulfilling than consuming stuff, Newgrounds will be king.
Creating shitty YouTube vlogs doesn't count.

I think Newgrounds already changed the internet.
I don't see where people are getting the idea that Newgrounds is so underdeveloped. It's been here for more than a decade. Not to mention it spawned stuff like the worlds first Flash portal, Numa numa, AYB etc.
I just don't understand.

Newgrounds has already revolutionized the internet. The flash portal being one of them. Its been around forever. If it gets bigger then good. If not then its still great how it is.

Creating shitty flashes doesn't count as well :D.
99% of the flashes here are. :D
Then again, 99.9999999999% of YT video's are shitty.

I'd be amazed if the majority of humanity ever has that much cells in their brains. I much enjoy content here than a long list of crap on YouTube such as vlogs as you stated, effortless reaction videos, etc. I'm happy there are some sites out there that promote creativity, although that is becoming really rare these days.

Actually, I'd rather the people who are up are only interested in social networking of the Facebook variety, and not Flash content, art, audio, lit, etc, stay over in their social network realm. I feel that a surplus of those people would really be an anomaly here on Newgrounds.

I feel the same way. Newgrounds has had a profound affect on a lot of other websites, too. A lot of people I've spoken to have heard of it or watched videos here as well.
I almost feel like Newgrounds is a more successful venue for viewer created content, even more so than youtube if you look at certain aspects such as Flash animators having the audio portal at their disposal, and the judgment system, etc. There is so much to utilize here and so many people networking together or collaborating, and I can only imagine Newgrounds getting bigger and even more innovative than it already is.
I hope in the future, Newgrounds will continue catering toward its community and it's artists, animators, audiophiles, etc. I hope other artists from communities like Deviantart, Flashkit, or even Vimeo start realizing what Newgrounds could even offer them (in my opinion, critique on Newgrounds is better than some of the criticism I see on DA, art and animation-wise). It would be nice for the Ng community to continue growing, once other creators start catching onto to how much it really has to offer.
Boop boop beep boop.
