Facebook Hatred!

Well, you might not necessarily hate Facebook - but for those of us who prefer not to use it (which seems to be the majority of NG), why do you not have an account?

Personally, I don't use it. I preferred myspace where the pages were actually customizable and you didn't feel like just a number in the system with completely identical profiles except for a few minor details. Plus, the privacy on that site is rather iffy. They consistently alter the contract at will - and seeing as I don't feel the need to stay in touch with friends 24/7, there's no reason for me to really have a useful profile there. Oh, and I will not conform!

Do you feel the same? Or, if you are an avid user of Facebook, why do you like it so much?

I don't know, I use Facebook, but I'm pretty indifferent about it. It's basically a way to keep in touch with friends, if I don't need to contact them as immediately as a text message or a phone call.

Pretty much this. Plus I can get the news about fam and friends without them telling me. I like having an extra way to interact with those i love. I keep my friend list small.

I did have an account until last month; I deleted because it got boring, became a privacy issue, and because the layout worsened.

I do use Facebook, and I'm not absolutely obsessed with it, I just use it to talk to my friends, especially those who have moved away. I'm also not like half the people on the site who ads like 500+ different people, more than half of which they don't know, and only talk to like 30 or so... ugh now that's pretty stupid.

It isn't necessarily a matter of having something to hide. Some people just don't like constantly streaming every little detail of their lives for all to see. Which I find to be reasonable, personally.

all of my friends use Facebook and one friend...former friend in particular who's smart but somewhat arrogant said it was for immature preteens funny thing is she had a my-space and didn't talk shit about until Facebook arrived.

I hate the idealization of keeping up with the "in-crowd" Fuck phones and fuck social networking. That's why I say fuck Google plus I'm tired of re making a profile every few years or so. Facebook will be the last time I have a social account unless another site allows you to personalize your profile and not just have that dull blue and white everywhere.

I miss MySpace but there's no point in goin back.

Meh, I like to use it to store all my pictures, and let people see them. That, and talk to my friends. The only reason most people don't like Facebook, is because it's overpopular and medias talk about it all the time.

It's just an easier way to keep up with friends, really, easier than texting at least. I don't have my address or anything on there, so I really wouldnt give a shit if anything leaked to the public.

The two people knew each other. She probably would have been stabbed even without facebook, as they would have just texted or called each other instead of using facebook as the medium. It's not somebody finding your address on facebook then killing you or some shit.
