The staff aren't accepting name change requests anymore. The process was too much of a headache for all involved. If the name you desire is still available feel free to create a new account with that name. You'll need to swap out the email used for your current one if you wish to re-use it to avoid an error message.

I really don't feel like starting over, it would make me feel like even more of a noob.

Sorry man, them's the breaks.
It's not so bad starting over. It gives you the ability to look back on your mistakes and learn.

you might get a name change if you have a very high post count, tons of B/P and experience points, and are generally well known in the forums, or are a great contributor to newgrounds, and have a good reason for doing so.
otherwise, you aren't going to get a name change (at least not as easy as a walk in the park).
28/12/14 - the last day I made sense.
31/12/14 - left the forums permanently.

What are you talking about? I got a name change about 4 days ago.
Obviously, they are still accepting name change requests.
Anyway, addressing the thread starter's question, you won't need to use your old username to log in. If you do(Assuming you do get a name change), the system will state that the username no longer exists in the system. That's what happened to me; I tried to log in as "Jedi-Master" 4 days ago, and it said just that. I remembered my name change request, and entered "Light" and I logged in successfully.
I was formerly known as "Jedi-Master."

Yea, if you're a big contributor to the site and all that, and also depending on their mood.. lol.. you should get a name change.

It's one of those grey areas.
- We've been instructed to stop directing people to staff members, and encourage others not to do the same, but
- It's whether the staff member is feeling charitable to do you a deed.
I would prefer this topic to be more black and white.

I have to agree... iv seen alot of confusion over the past few day, a handful of people *including myself* giving wrong information due to changes in the rules when we know people are getting name changes.
the problem will rise "as it is now" when people with said high posts/B/S/flashes and stuff are getting name changes and others who do not have these stats are disallowed because then where do you make the line?... how many posts?... how well known?....
