I've contacted a few of you in messages, you obviously know who you are.
Moving on to the next up!
So, enjoyment is a reason why someone should do something?
If I found enjoyment out of clubbing seals in the seal clubbers club, should I be allowed to do that because I enjoy it?
Obviously someone who smokes weed, hopefully, doesn't just go clubbing animals. The idea stands though. Is enjoyment justification to do something?
You're thinking too hard. That's your problem. You're taking the age old question of "if it feels good do it?" and attaching this extreme circumstance to it. Obviously clubbing baby seals and smoking weed don't have anything to do with each other. What you're saying is like saying, "Is farting justified because it feels good? Would you kill a family of ducklings if it felt good?"
Besides, smoking weed is a victimless crime. If you feel like some injustice has been done to you by people who smoke weed, than that right there is the root of your prejudice. If anyone DID have the right to cry victim, it would be either the dealer, or the user over a matter of pricing, or getting a bag full of sticks and seeds.
I just have to say, this topic is kind of ridiculous. Your whole arguement is based on if your healthy and fine, why smoke weed? So does that mean if you're unhealthy and not so fine, you can see the purpose? If I enjoy it, does that make it right? Well no, but DUH. If I went on every impulse to do something because I enjoyed it, I would probably be in prison along with the rest of the world and THEY went on every impulse to satisfy an urge.
That just strikes me as funny. You seem to think the only reason a person SHOULD smoke weed is if they were fucked up to begin with. lol

From what I can tell, the whole process is to make yourself stupid for a few moments of petty bliss.
Wrong. And when before you even try making a point you call it 'making yourself stupid' you're already loading a bullet into the revolver of bad logic.
However, pleasures like drinking to get drunk or other general drug use don't totally add up to me. Don't get me wrong, when my friends aren't within 10 miles of me to ridicule me, I'll take an apple margarita in or something like that, maybe a rum and coke when I can't get friends away, but never to the point of the inhibition of my abilities. I just like the taste.
Inhibition? No. People drink and smoke to let go, relax. That's it. And people have been doing it for thousands of years. It's not a hard concept to grasp.
It's taking your body, and making it lesser for the sake of insignificant moments of happiness or forgetting your problems.
How is it making it lesser? You're not losing anything. And what makes something significant or not? What an incredibly pretentious thing to say.
Any input is welcomed, I'm not here to tell you you're wrong if you're someone who does this, I just like taking in and understanding other perspectives. Even adopting them wholly or partly at times.
Like many others in this thread have stated, MJ is seen as a source of inspiration by many artists, famous or otherwise. And anyone who's smoked socially can tell you that it can result in some really good conversations.
There have been more than a few studies on THC, the active chemical in weed, which overwhelmingly show that yes, it does increase brain activity in the creative-dominated portions, yes, it does help make connections broad topics easier. It is in fact incredibly insulting to dismiss anyone who uses it as stupid.
What are your own experiences with the plant, OP?

I smoke weed all the time and it helps me be spiritual when I am an Atheist and lets me see perspectives from a different point of view. Getting a vaporizer this Christmas. Don't care what people think about people smoking, haters gonna hate.

Marijuana, unlike alcohol, is actually HEALTHY for you. The only bad thing that can come from it (that we know) is bronchitis. Yeah, you mirin.
Guess what laddy? Using a vaporizer means that I don't even have to worry about bronchitis because I am not actually smoking it.

Oh yeah and before I tripple-post all up in this thread; this is one of the biggest reasons I like to smoke:
Shit helps me sleep.
Inb4 "we have pills that can do that." Yeah well I particularly don't wanna fund big pharmaceutical companies, and those pills probably have side-effects. Marijuanas side effects are pretty much all beneficial. I can only sleep without it if I am pretty much sleep walking already; I can feel the weight of my eyes right now because I am dry.
Let's be honest; I don't have to tell people why I smoke or even justify it. Does the football all-star justify why he plays football? Does the gamer justify why he plays games? etc.
The answer is no, and the only reason this topic is an issue is because it is illegal. And just because something is illegal does not inherently make it wrong. Thusly, me smoking and anyone else smoking is their business and they should have a private right to do as they wish because they are not harming anyone.
Bed time now.

Like, I love how all you kids are actually sitting here arguing about why you should smoke weed.
Why SHOULDN'T I smoke weed? I enjoy altering my perception, and it has no ill effects. Period.
It does not cause health problems, it does not eat up a responsible persons money, you will not get caught if you're doing it in your own home, and even if you're stupid and you do get caught, almost no cop is going to take you into jail, in fact, in my state all they will do is give you a ticket.

NO, LIKE I HATE ALL OF YOU AND YOU SHOULDN'T TALK ABOUT DRUGS BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. THERE IS NO POINT FOR YOU TO DEBATE DRUGS OR EVEN COMMENT ON THEM BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. YOU WOULDN'T TELL SOMEONE HOW TO OPERATE ON HIS CARS ENGINE IF YOU HAD NO CLUE WHAT YOU WERE SAYING, I'D SAY THAT TALKING TO SOMEBODY ABOUT A POWERFUL PSYCHOACTIVE SUBSTANCE, THE REPRESSIONS OF SAID INFORMATION ARE FAR MORE DIRE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT BE MEASURED IN DOLLARS AND CENTS.
Anyways, marijuana affects creativity by increasing cell plasticity and making it much easier for some brain cells to interact with one another, while concurrently intercepting the attention you pay to random stupid shit, like your peripherals (ever been watching tv and you are only aware of the tv in a bright, possibly busy room while high as fuck?), and puts you in an altered state of mind, which naturally causes you to be more creative because of the nature of changing your perception.

I resent your use of videogames as "alternative mind-stimulating products".
As a regular user of the bastards myself, I can safely say that anyone who finds fucking videogames stimulating is a simpleton at best.
Oh yeah, I've never done weed or seen a single shred of hemp (not a single dealer, go figures) and I safely glazed over most of the replies in this topic.

Wait, what? Even in states where marijuana is illegal you won't end up in jail... lol.
Judging from your opinion on the subject, you've probably only smoked once or twice, if it all. From your only experience smoking mediocre marijuana you now think it gives a lazy, tired feeling which is unpleasant. If you ever have the urge to try it again, you shouldn't smoke as much and smoke something better.
As far as to why people enjoy cannabis: It provides a relaxed and refreshed feeling, to me. It also greatly reduces stress and supports a happier mood in the individual.
With any sort of "drug" it's all personal preference. I know people that hate weed too; although they can't disagree with that fact the recreational use is proven to be completely safe. You seem to be the type of person to avoid any type of mind-altering substances. There is nothing wrong with that either.

I scoff at the idea of weed opening creative boundaries. The only thing I've ever seen when working with a musician whose high, is a useless, stupid, high musician with no creativity or sense of direction. I'll state it again, useless.

Well, if said musician is already mediocre at best, smoking a bunch of weed won't help. The "weed opens creative boundaries" argument only applies to people that have skill to begin with.
To be fair, though, when I'm high I usually notice things in songs I would have never heard otherwise. I don't know if there's a scientific reason for this, but it happens a lot.

It's because people want a vacation of some kind and for some weed is the only way they can do it. The people at "South Park" did the same thing, only with smoking tobacco. People should be allowed to have that stuff because for some people that is simply the best thing they have. I guess it could overlap with personality, that you're just a person who's into that thing, but you should allow yourself to be like that.

You're going to die anyway. By avoiding everything that is bad for you you're just extending the inevitable and having less fun during this time. Not that you need drugs at all to have fun, but surely having fun is enough of a reason when the cons of barely harmful drugs like marijuana do not outweigh the pros. Like, I could understand if this question were aimed at heroin users, where the cons blatantly outweigh the pros.

I also love bow you're all still acknowledging some unproved opinion, that marijuana is bad for you, and compromising with it. Weed does no lung damage, has no carcinogenic effects on the body, and has no proven, permanent long term effects. None, whatsoever, period. Fuck off with your uninformed debates, even the people in here arguing for weed are slandering it.

Unless you think artists are morons for stating weed enhances their creativity, I don't see a reason for you to state that it's useless.
