It's half robot, half cop.
When Chuck Norris has nightmares, he has them about RoboCop.
But seriously, it also has really deep subtext about how culture makes us immortal and how our children are a product of our culture.

Greatest movie ever
I heard somewhere that Robocop was supposed to resemble Jesus in a way. What with being resurrected....AS A ROBOT!
Didn't Detroit have that fundraiser to erect a Robocop statue?

They should not. We should let movies fade with memory, else this remake business is going to become a tradition.
It was a great film. The kind of action film no-one in their right mind dislikes.

While I agree that some remakes are just awful and are nothing but the original characters in some pointless plot that seems disrespectful to the original, some remakes like Planet of the Apes and I Am Legend were great movies.
Robocop on the other hand would likely be terrible. The way the effects were done in the 80's with Robocop seemed to fit the movie perfectly with the plot.
I liked the movie... I also LOVED the 8-bit NES game. I only played part one on the NES, but it was fun. ^.^
