It makes me want to ask them if its only the one, or if the s on the end of maths ended up on the end of lego.
What other differences between the dialects of English annoy or amuse you? I find that the American use of the word 'root' is funny if you think of how the Australians use it.

What are you talking about? Can you clarify? there are many diverse accents in the states.
When I say math, I just say "math" not "maths" if that is what you mean.

maths vs math lego vs legos
I mean, saying math implies there is only one, and lego is a mass noun and you cant have multiple of a mass noun.

The debate over correct grammar annoys the pis outta me, the reason why we talk is to GET A POINT across.
Who gives a shit how it sounds as long as the message is delivered, and people who bitch and complain about accents and.or grammar (this goes for English teachers). Obviusly have nothing better to do with there pathetic lives, then to tell others how they should sound.
I was wondering when I'd get a decent sig. Did I really just see an argument on the net about what a tomatoes considered, it is the end of the world.

Is it possible to be a Grammar Nazi, but still see nothing wrong in one certain dialect versus another?

Maybe they can only learn or do one sum/equation at a time, lol.
Americans have a lot of silly ways of putting things, such as "I could care less" which is silly as well.

actually, when people (especially highschool dropouts) say 'math', most of the time they mean 'meth'. both in spoken and written language.
yeah, meth as in methamphetamine.

That doesn't make sense. "Maths" is short for mathematics. People, neither in England nor America or anywhere else say "mathematic", therefore, "maths" is the correct term.

people don't say mathsematics, or methsamphetamine either. (unless you happen to travel to asian countries, then you will probably heard this kind of mispronounciation.)
i think both math and maths are correct. the former is amercian english while the latter is british.

The way aluminum is pronounced. The American way makes more sense but the British way sounds cooler.
The sig that I'm wearin? Awesomely made by Skaren!
Also, I like annoying Americans by calling English football "real football" and American football "rugby".-Lost-Chances

Look out guys, we have a bunch of purists who shun any changes in language and believe it should never change, ever.
It's funny because the language everyone gets their panties in a bunch about, English, is the bastard incestuous child of about 5 others.

I think they pronounce it "mass".
I really, really did think that we were past the intellectual stage where one way of saying a word was considered better then another. As a whole.

Well, I pronounce it maths. Lazy or lisp'd people pronounce it those ways.

I thought everyone used 'root' like that, except maybe Americans. I'm not Australian.
My opinion on the matter is that different dialects make movies more interesting.

Do people around you say Physic? Because you seem to assume I implied that is so. Whilst trying to prove something, you could at least not resort to argumentum ad populum. This may be hard for you to grasp: Physics = multiple disciplines, same for Maths.

They most certainly do, there is no such thing as a neutral accent.

That's what I meant. Mathematics and Physics are the subjects of multiple things.
