I'm not into any heavy metal or any of that shit but Serious Sam's BFE trailer has the best music i've ever heard for a game advertisement. Check this awesomness out.

KOTOR 2 - Malachor V (if you've actually played KOTOR 2 then you'll love this piece even more...)

Neverwinter Nights 2 - Main theme (I love this one, there are hardly enough game soundtracks that have the magical feel this one has, seriously, this is the kind of music a fantasy Rpg strives for)
Dragon Age: Origins - Main theme
Dragon Age: Origins Leliana's song (YES, I know its cheesy and pretentious as fuck now but it was good before all the fucktards overused it and ruined it. Just respect it for what it is. Also this music is fucking fantastic. Way above videogame music standards imo.)
Mass Effect - Spectre induction (this one is great. It really empowers the player, fits in with the scene and its just great...call me a pretentious moron if you want but you can't deny Mass Effect's soundtrack is among the greatest soundtracks out there even if you personally don't like it that much.)
Mass Effect 1 - Normandy
Mass Effect 1 - Galaxy map (not one of my favorites personally but a lot of people regard this as the best soundtrack piece in Mass Effect)
Mass Effect 2 - Main menu theme
Dragon Age: Origins - Challenge an Archdemon (endgame dragon bossfight/finale theme)
Neverwinter Nights 2 - Harbor attack / West Harbor under attack
Mass Effect 1 - Final Assault (bad quality, you can't hear all the instruments and sounds which is a shame, the song is a lot less generic than this video makes it sound like)

Im not sure if this counts but the credits song for Chronicles of Riddick - Assualt on Dark Athena was pretty bad ass. Valley of the Dead - Awaiting the Turmoil i think it was called. Then there is Skyrim OST which i thought was fantastic. But my favorite would be witchcraft in the Silent Hill Homecoming OST.

I don't know if I'll get in trouble for posting this I think this list of almost 400 games would be able to justify the idea of this thread. If you're skeptical why don't you play them?

I don't really listen to video game soundtracks often but I have a few exceptions. I really love Akira Yamaoka's work with Silent Hill (as does everybody I know who has played the Silent Hill games) and I'm disappointed that he's not going to work on the newest game of the franchise - he can make ethereal sounds and unnerving atmospheres through a versatile range of genres.

I also really like the soundtrack to VVVVVV. I don't know who did it, but the whole 8bit / chiptune soundtrack was genuinely fun with that game. Some really catchy moments.

And then Tomá%u0161 Dvo%u0159ák's soundtrack for Machinarium - oh fucking hell I love that soundtrack so much. I love that game so much and a highlight for it to me is definitely the soundtrack. Ambient music with subtle glitches at times and with his clarinet... it's just brilliant. I'd suggest to people to listen to his solo work he releases under the pseudonym "Floex" if they enjoyed the soundtrack to Machinarium as much as I did.
