The reason why, is because were too civilized
Think of it like this, in nature only the strong survive, and then when the strong mate, the next generation is naturally stronger, and so on. Well, we have become so high tech and civilized, that everyone survives, both the weak and strong. Because of that, there are more people being born than there are people dieing.
And as for the nuclear holocaust thing, well, were just dumbasses
Most people die of old age and car crashes.

You stated the two most likely causes for death as over population and nukes. Since I don't think there will ever be an incident in which every single human being is killed by the same thing all at once, I made sure that you knew the real most likely causes of death.
You are a complete idiot if you think Nature can't keep herself in balance. Ever hear of a natural disaster? Everything works together in Nature to form balance.
Humans are very adaptable, I do not believe we are going to be the end of our selves.
Kali is the destroyer, without her renewal and rebirth would be impossible
The sig that I'm wearin? Awesomely made by Skaren!

Why do people think overpopulation is a problem? It's not, at least not as a global problem. It might be overpopulated within a contained region, but not as a worldy issue.

im pretty sure 3 thousand nukes to the face (of the planet, see what i did there?) isnt natural

Everything artificial we make is made from components in Nature. We are unable to create anything completely unnatural. If multiple countries explode nukes all over there will still be animals, plants, bacteria, fungi, etc that adapt and survive. Nature adapts, balances, and persists.

No, there would just be ashes everywhere
When just one nuke goes off, everything within 50 miles looses all life, and the sky is completely covered in dirt and dust for weeks

....refresh my memory, what were you talking about again? o.o
as for the issue, humanity may or may not kill itself off.
at this point, I wouldn't put anything past them.
I'm really hoping that humanity destroys itself like... today.
that would be nice.

I hate to break it to you, but there is no such thing as "The Big Red Button"
To launch a nuke requires two people, each with their own special key, standing on opposite sides of the room, and turning their key simultaneously within one second of each other.

It's called growth. Eventually we'll reach stability and then die off. But you have to reach stability, and since we are in growth, growth isn't going to be our downfall.
Clearly somebody hasn't studied biology.
Xenomit...maybe if you would swallow your own cum at the same time world explodes...maybe you could survive

We don't create new materials. We reassemble old ones to create something else. My point was that everything comes from Nature.

I certainly don't have a degree in biology... but I believe I know enough to get by.
based on what I do know, I believe what you're trying to say is that, because the world can sustain us today, it means we haven't reached our limits of how many people the Earth can hold. once we do reach our limits, we'll begin to starve and die off, sinking back to a reasonable population...
that's great, but for the first time in humanity, we're using up the majority of the world's non-renewable resources, contaminating much of the rest, and in some cases, killing off once renewable resources.
again, yes, I am somewhat ignorant on the topic. however, I find it hard to believe that the world is just going to replenish itself with the amount of consuming we've resorted to.

~sigh~
You do realize that both of those nukes only had one warhead, and that we now have warheads 100 times more powerfull than that, AND that we have about 8 of these super warheads per nuke, right?
just 30 could destroy all life on earth

You do realize that most major colonies/nations have HEU, including Baghdad, Isreal, North Korea, and China. If there's gonna be nuclear warfare, we'd probably get hit by Kim Jong Il's weapons of mass seduction.

that's a really strong hope...
while limiting births in the future would be nice, the stigma attached to such control of a nation is going to be enough to piss people off in the process. especially considering the religious extremists who believe that they were put on Earth to have as many children as humanly possible.
the problem with needing greater population to help maintain the current population is that this trend is going to continue as the population rises. the only thing we can hope for is a major disaster (or murder) which wipes out the majority of humanity, then for technology to progress to the point where manpower is obsolete, and then for some sort of system which can utilize the remaining populace in a productive manner for what jobs machinery cannot fulfill.
at least, that's one option (my ideal)

Follow by nuclear winter and life starting over but with new creatures. IDK this is all theoretic skepticism anyway.

Overpopulation really has nothing to do with advancement - it is fueled by imperialistic countries colonizing or exploiting 3rd worlds, and people trying to be "generous" by sending large amounts of food to an already overpopulated area with an environment incapable of supporting the inhabitants. 1st worlds don't have an overpopulation problem. If it wasn't for greed and unnecessary consumption of resources, the Earth would be able to sustain a much larger population.
It was a good mathematical theory on your part, but it simply doesn't hold up anywhere besides North America, Europe, and Australia (none of which are suffering from overpopulation).

I've read developing countries have a population increase. Developed countries keep their population constant or declining. So I really am not worried about overpopulation and there are predators and natural disasters to keep us in check.

I thought the reason we die is because a body can simply not live that long as it is too complicated and there are too many factors contributing to its death. Of course, that's more of a "how" and not "why". I am so glad that people are learning the difference between the two. People are asked "Why is the sky blue?" and they say it's because of something to do with light, but that's HOW the sky is blue, that's now why it's blue.
