The first anime series I remember watching was DBZ, and I thought it was the coolest show ever when I was a kid. Nowadays, not so much, but I still have some respect for it today.
Although what got me into anime was watching Ninja Scroll when I was about 10 or 11 at my cousin's house, and that was some intense shit right there.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.
Dragon Ball, or Sailor Moon. I can't remember far back enough to tell you which one, but it was one of the two.
lol, remember how awful the dubs were for Sailor Moon? Gah.
just roll with it nerd
for me it was probably Pokemon... or Sailor Moon.
Dragon Ball Z was close to follow and then I started watching things like Yu Yu Hakusho and Inuyasha.
Newgrounds introduced me to a few series as well (namely, Love Hina, Neon Genesis: Evangelion and DNA^2)
DRAGON DRAGON BALL
DRAGON BALL Z
DRAGON DRAGON BALL

I didn't think of Pokemon.
Pokemon might be the first anime I watched, but I think I watched Sailor Moon before Pokemon was ever even out, but the hell if I know.
just roll with it nerd

most people don't.
it doesn't help that the Japanese dub isn't even available in English speaking countries unless you pirate it (which I did)
Well back in my day It was:
Fists of North Star
Sailor Moon
Ronin Warriors
Dragon Ball
Gundam
Robotech
I watched Pokemon and Digimon religiously for a while when I was little, but they didn't make me seek out or get into other anime or anything. Plus those shows are just elaborate toy commercials anyway. Really I didn't get into the legit stuff until this past summer when I watched Cowboy Bebop and FLCL (which has pretty much become one of my all-time favorite TV shows, period).
It kind of sucks to just be getting into it now because it seems like everything I'm watching has already been analyzed to death, and nobody wants to talk about them anymore. I'm on the last handful of episodes of NGE right now and it's blowing my fucking mind.
Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z.
They were the crack of my childhood.
Get me a beer.
Well Pokemon obviously, like everyone else.
But I only started watching anime all over again after I watched TTGL.
Naruto. Yeah it was kind of late.
To every that loved Death Note please be my friend.

Natural enemies, you and I.

probably pokemon, tho at the time i didnt know it was an anime. the first one that i actually knew was an anime was probably dbz
My first anime series was The Law of Ueki!
I loved that show!
Pokemon, Dragon Ball (Not DBZ until after), and Yu-Gi-Oh were the first three I really got into. I stopped watching Pokemon first out of all of them. It got entirely too childish and repetitive for my tastes.
I've literally watched all Dragon Ball and all DBZ. Never got into the Dragon Ball: GT series. Although, the Dragon Ball Z movies were fantastic.

Not counting pokémon, digimon or avatar (not REAL anime), it'd be deathnote. I started naruto before that, but it didn't make sense to me, so deathnote was my first anime.

The first anime I saw was DBZ and DB which I thought were pretty awesome.
The first anime I actually got into was Naruto, though I was 11 years old then, of course I would have found it interesting.
After that I watched Deathnote and Code Geass.
Those are the only anime I've watched, I'm not a real big fan of anime (though I think anime can be pretty good sometimes.)

So what was (apart from digimon) your first anime then?

Well, I consider my first PROPER anime to be Death Note. I'm not really into anime much but I heard of that story and watched it and loved it.
