Some games can be an epic piece of crap but for some reason there sometimes seems to be a few good songs to come out of it. What are some of your favorites?
If theres any example it'd have to be His World

this remix (if you count it). Best rendition of bloody tears I have ever heard. the game itself wasn't bad but the online community was.

Also, V-Rally was pretty bland and forgettable, but this song from its Gameboy version ruled.

Fallout 3. Its soundtrack wasn't made by Bethesda, luckily.

I haven't played it, but I've heard that Way of the Samurai 3 is quite a let down. Either way, I have the soundtrack and it's really good, as should be expected of the composer, Noriyuki Asakura.

hah. I remember playing that piece of shit Friday the 13th for NES. I was totally lost for most of the game. Luckily, it was just a rental.

So Bethesda did not even do the work for Ambient background tracks you hear in the game?

Didn't that game also feature Sympathy for the Devil by The Rolling Stones?
Worth mentioning as well I'd say.

It's one of my most favorite, if not my only most favorite game; critics often attack the game for its lack of time spent on tings like character design and voice acting, but aside from stuff like that, I thought it had some of the best music ever heard in a video game: Blue Stinger (epic props for arguably having the longest intro song ever).
The game was heavily promoted as a launch title for the Dreamcast, perhaps standing out as a worthy rival to Resident Evil, and even having it's own "image song" soundtrack done by Japanese music group (in Englishand Japanese).
I loved the game, and never really paid any attention to the flaws, until I read reviews (cursed "Tree of Knowledge" syndrome!).
Also with the holiday season on its way, this may be something you'd like to add to your xmas playlist. (you may hear a slight homage to this tune if you watched "Rizelmine")
Toshihiko Sahashi, like Kohei Tanaka (of Alundra fame), seem to be a testament to the fact that anime composers can create the finest video game soundtracks as well.

A prime example of a horrible game with a good soundtrack would be Tales of Legendia. It was literally painful to play. It had terrible voice acting, and the story was straight off of a children's cereal box. But, the music from it was strangely captivating.
