We'll find out at NewGrounds Tournament of Champions! That's right people, I'm hosting a Tournament Of Champions Rappers on New Grounds. The only information I will disclose as of right now is:

16 New Grounds MC's will be invited, their invitations will be based on skill and popularity alone. The other 16 will be decided through Hype Tracks. That's right, anybody not invited will have to make a hype track and link me with it, the best 16 Hype Tracks(based on a pole by the judges), will be in the Competition!

Prizes:

1st place:
- $300 (via paypal)
- All the rights to 5 beats made by ER or N1K
(chosen by you out of 20 given beats)
- Guaranteed spot on the Group Album
(you may decline)
- Free Group Album (CD) [Deluxe Edition] mailed to you.
- Free NGTC Album (CD) [Deluxe Edition-including all Hype tracks, and EVERY battle] mailed to you.

2nd place:
- $100 (via paypal)
- Guaranteed chance to be on the Group Album
- All the rights to 1 beat made by ER or N1K
(chosen by you out of 10 given beats)
- Free NGTC Album (CD) [Deluxe Edition] mailed to you.

3rd place:
- Your $10 back. (via paypal)
- Free NGTC Album
- All the rights to any beat on the ER page.

These prizes are subject to change as in ADDING onto them, such as more money, more things, more music. Nothing from these prizes will be taken off if anything is added.

Hype Track Rules:
1. MUST be 16 bars!
2. MUST mention the tournament in any way.

Begging your pardon but, did you check with the existing NG audio portal rap community before going ahead with this?

Plus "skill and popularity" are pretty subjective. Did you pick those 16 based on your OWN preferences, or did you gather a bunch of fellow NG rap artists to decide?

You can try getting in touch with BigRed regarding having a Hip Hop based contest on Newgrounds. I'm pretty sure you can find lots of help there.

Personally, I don't think it's right to ask for money AND attach the Newgrounds name to it.

i mean seriously... there are driven people who makes contests here on NG by devoting their own spare-time doing it. noone has to pay jack shit to enter the NG_based contests (note that these contests are NG-based, none of these forum-based contests are official NG-contests, unless it's Tom Fulp or any other staff-member who creates the contest). We like to think of it as a way to give back to the community and the site, because we get all of this site for free.

if you're serious about holding a contest and base it here in the forums, make a draft and send it to myself or jarrydn or Rig, who also are active BBS-mods who helps out in the audio forum.
