You know what i think? I think the Government should 1continue the wonderful work they're doing to vigilantly protect American Copyright Laws in the completely fair and constitutional way they're currently doing! The Government is great and deserves only our trust, respect, and complete obedience.

I've seen tons of stuff over this, and have signed about five petitions over it.

If I offer to help you in a post, PM me to get it. I often forget to revisit threads.

Here's a couple interesting things I heard.

1. MPAA's Michael O'Leary showed support for regimes that censor the internet,by saying that "the internet isn't broken" in places like China and Iran...

2. O'Leary continues to pull at heart strings, by trying to rope all sorts of other businesses into the movie and TV industry including (I'm not joking) the dry cleaners that serve the cast and crew on location. Apparently, without movies, dry cleanersgo out of business. Think of the poor dry cleaners!

3. The House Judiciary Committee had stacked the SOPA meeting 5 to 1 in favor of the bill. The five were the Register of Copyrights, the MPAA, Pfizer, MasterCard, and the AFL-CIO. The one opposing company was Google, which had a history of copyright problems. People with legitimate concerns about this bill were shut out entirely, left without a voice.

MasterCard actually threw a curveball and highlighted the problems of SOPA, rather than send a very pro-SOPA message. They said that Mastercard "highlights the massive liability and compliance costs that are likely to come from the bill."

So yeah. Our government is out to screw us over. And they could succeed.

But maybe I could take advantage of it. If I file complaints about sites, could I use their power to take down sites I don't like?

You know about Touhou Project? I feel awkward knowing about it. Nothing about it has been released in America, and you won't find any Touhou merchandise in any store or their websites, not even FYE or Entertainment Earth. Americans should not know about it. Will the SOPA bill handle copyrighted material originating from other countries?

Come to think of it, let's get rid of J-Pop stuff as well, and for the same reason as Touhou. You will never hear genuine J-pop anywhere on American TV except for anime themes.

<Censors users who bring up that one American Dad episode>

Come to think of it, I should also make up copyright stuff against porn sites! And maybe I will find some random sites to attack for no reason!!!

-----------------------------------

You know what? The thought of me screwing people over gives me an adrenaline rush. Isn't that weird? Maybe that's why those people want to censor the Internet. Who needs cocaine or heroin when you can just f*** the people you rule over?

Ummm...take a look at this
.

"Yet IP addresses are allocated by regional organizations, not national ones. The allocation entity located in the U.S. is called ARIN, the Americas Registry for Internet Numbers. Its territory includes the U.S., Canada and 20 Caribbean nations. This bill treats all IP addresses in this region as domestic for U.S. law purposes. "

Even Jamaica gets censored, mon.

It doesn't have anything to do with adult content or violence. It has to do with copyrighted material. With SOPA, there won't be a Newgrounds at all.

So what you're saying is that the Mature section will still be on Newgrounds, but Newgrounds won't be on the internet?

Go back to when they decided to add the FCC, and censored television and tell me that its not possible. The government has done it before, do you really think that they'd have a problem in doing it again?

Could be. If Wikipedia was showing information that the government deemed "too sensitive", who's to say they wouldn't restrict it?

Let me tell you exactly how hard it is for a bill like this to actually pass:

1. It needs to be approved in BOTH houses of Congress, which already looks highly unlikely.
2. President Obama needs to sign it into law (which would be political suicide for him and doom any chance he has in 2012).
3. It needs to be ruled Constitutional by the Supreme Court, which is almost impossible considering the fact that IT'S NOT CONSTITUTIONAL!

Really, does ANYONE still think it's going to pass?

This one may not pass, but the problem is that the internet is constantly under attack in the first place and there are no laws being passed to protect it.

Seriously, ever since the Supreme Court ruled this I am surprised anyone would have faith in their ability to judge what is constitutional.

Not to mention that if they use an image that a company doesn't want shown, they may no longer be able to claim "fair use" if I have understood the arguments correctly.

Sites like Newgrounds and YouTube could still function though, on original content but they just wouldn't be able to use things from other soruces, that might make it a little boring though, you couldn't watch Let's Play videos on YouTube from what I understand.

I've not read the bill and don't really know much about it, I've only heard one side of the argument.

Which of the major countries are going to get pissed off? A lot of them already have heavy censorship and if it comes to it, the other countries can host their own versions of sites or Facebook/YouTube/Etc can move to a country where it won't affect them.

It will affact American sites and sites host on American servers right? So if that's the case, what's to stop businesses setting up in the EU?

I'm not US citizen so I will not do that what the page is all about. But I might regret it, because if it passes, the my country could easily implement the same law, because our government is trying to be like USA government.
