it's actually Macromedia flash 8 ( or just flash 8 for short), but now there are many more versions
Adobe Flash Professional Cs3, Cs4, cs5, and the newest version Cs5.5
Some use Macromedia because It's simple
Most of the admins use CS3 because of the addition of As3.0
Really it's up to you to decide what version you want, they all can help you make great animations.
link to adobe's website
i mean i use flash, but if you really look at all the versions together. they are all basically the same thing with small diffrences
THIS IS MY SIGNITURE. THERE ARE MANY LIKE IT BUT THIS ONE IS MINE. MY SIGNITURE IS MY BEST FRIEND
I use flash MX and CS5.5
I use flash MX because its brushes and default smoothing are good for game design and animation

I know right??
:I'm crazy O_O
I've heard that CS3 is the most stable version that has all the new features (AS3 and other settings that I don't really care for)
Personally everything that's Adobe can suck my dick, so I stick to Macromedia Flash 8.
I use Flash 8, personally, and love it. I hear a lot of people prefer it because it is geared more towards 'animation' rather than programming/game-making, but I have little experience with any other versions so I am not the best one to answer this.
Flash 8 is simple, easy to use, doesn't crash often (for me, anyway), and I prefer the layout very much and am well in tune with it.
Boop boop beep boop.
Adobe crashes a lot especially the newest version, but I still use it.
There are things I do and there are things I want to do. Overall, I just want to live my life and end it the way I want.
I use Flash5, flash mx, flash mx2004 but mostly flash 8.
Yeah im hardcore
Flash CS5 here, but I started in Macromedia Flash 5... differences? when it comes to animating... I have notice none...
