And those Humble Indie Bundle guys who practically GIVE away their games are experiencing freeloaders. It's sad.
So how about you? Do you or would you crack a game that costs ten bucks or less?
It's sad that there are so many people desperate to acquire cracked games.
I have used a cracked game before to try it out, and then proceeded to buy it as I liked it so much. If I didn't like it, I would have stopped using the crack.
I have no idea what I am doing.
The guy on that video sounds creepy, doesn't sound like he has left his bedroom in a while.
I decided to find out what it would be like to just move away and live in Sydney for one year.

I generally don't like cracking games, though not for the reason that I like supporting the developers. But indie developers have it hard enough, so I don't see why someone wouldn't be willing to give 10$ for it.

BUT WTF Y R U STELING MY TEN DOLLER GAME U FUCKIN POOR BASTARDS ARE YOU REALLY THAT CHEEP DERRRRR
.
The only reason I pirate anything is because both me and my parents don't have a credit card. I really haven't pirated anything in a while. But I would probably pay just to support you.
Yeah, and I have lol. Simply saves money. Well minecraft would be the only "indie" game I've pirated, any others get tons of profit.
I admit, when I was younger I used to download illegitimate copies of software a lot, but that's because I didn't have any way to pay for it or just did it for the hell of it; mainly through boredom. These days, I pay for all my software or get it for free legitimately (MSDN-AA). As for games, I've always bought them fair and square, regardless of price.
Don't get too disheartened that a few kids are cracking your game, one day they'll see the value in paying for your wares.

Cool your jets, big boy. That's not what I'm saying.
"Piracy" isn't stealing and there's no evidence to prove that it'll be a lost sale. In Solar 2's case, there's a free demo available for people to evaluate. My point is that I don't see why you can't spend a couple bucks to support indie devs.
If I were unable to purchase it, due to being broke or having no way to purchase it through the methods offered, I might pirate it. However, I usually follow up with buying a legitimate copy or donating to their cause.

Hmm, good point. I admit that I downloaded my fair share of software in the past, and paid for them fully when I got an income, lol.
There should be a way to put cash into your computer.
The only thing I pirate is movies. Mainly because they're free on most TV channels anyways

Honestly, the last game I ever pirated was Braid. I loved that game so much that I ended up buying it on Steam just to support the developers. I feel like a lump of cancer on the video game industry when I pirate games so I never do it any more. Especially not indie games.
I just hate the publishers that punish paying customers with intrusive DRM (I'm looking at you, Ubisoft) while pirates that crack their game just remove all of the DRM. Gabe Newell made a good point in that publishers have got it all wrong and that they should make it easier and more convenient to buy a game than it is to pirate a game.

There is, just feed bills or coins no smaller than a quarter into your CD slot.

People do this all the time with Bandcamp songs using this thingy here and nobody raises an eyebrow? Really, you could just as easily steal 200-something $s worth of MP3s and nobody would give a shit.
I don't though.
There are real, hard-working people behind all these albums and games, working their asses off coding and programming and bashing and plucking and melding the multicolored sap that is the infused creativity into a cohesive whole - for profit and for the consumer's pleasure both.

I't s a good thing!
Meaning you get more publicity for you're game (but it's pirated)
On the other hand it shows they like it :)
Being Welsh + Sexy? I should get paid for this sh*t
Some people that pirate games draw a line where certain companies "deserve it" and others don't while others use it as a way to get and extended demo. That's all just justification, I think there's a great majority of people who pirate games who just don't give a shit. They have a sense of entitlement that if they want something they should just have it. It doesn't matter that someone might be putting their livelyhood into the game.
You can't appeal to that kind of person's sense of right and wrong.

Yeah, that's true. I'm not against the act of copying and sharing games. I just think that if you like it, you should buy it.
Hmm, I wonder if anyone who's copied it bought it later.
Pirating computer games is something I did when I was 12 years old
"Some users just want to 'stick it to the man', and be edgy and rebellious. It doesn't matter if they're sticking it to indie developers, sick children, and online civil liberties... they're sticking it to someone, so they feel cool."
Oh please, as if the world is on fire because some people pirate. Nevermind the fact that this is assuming they don't give to charity in real life.
That is pretty naughty really. When it's stuff from like EA and co then I can understand really. Though I'd still prefer people to buy the games themselves afterwards when and if they know they like the game. But for cheap games like that it isn't exactly fair.
I own Solar 2 illegally and it sucks and I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on it.

I ask the same thing about Minecraft. I guess it's a "why buy the milk" philosophy. I e-pirate occasionally, but I wouldn't waste the effort on individuals trying to get their name out there. The only things I've cracked are big corporation products that are basically equivalent to expansion packs on old games. And, of course, downloading underground music is a widespread practice because the amount of music you listen to would add up even if it's just a dime per song.
I'm not recommending/supporting piracy! (INB4 Illegal Activity Ban)
But, people looking to get rich from a rip-off are just asking to be pirated IMHO.
Hahaha I'd be mad as fuck if I were you.
I hate to say it, but that's what you need to expect in the gaming industry. People are cheap and they will get anything they can for free, even if it's illegal.
Im going to buy Solar 2 just because you guys are awesome.
The sad thing about piracy is that honest customers get punished with more and more restrictions. The person who pays the money for a game has to go through many obstacles like Steam or Origin to get a game running, I feel like I get treated like a thief, that is not really fair. The developers can try what they want, sooner or later a game will get hacked/cracked, etc.
Without truth, there is no justice.
