Movies you actually want remakes of

No movie should ever have a remake. Sometimes retellings of stories can be fine, but trying to replicate a film for a newer audience is incredibly stupid. Just leave the director's work as it was and make your own film.

Why the hell would you remake it?
No really, the live action stuff is perfect for the period it's depicting, and the animated portions are made by Gerald bloody Scarfe, and I don't know if it's struck people yet but animation is actually getting worse the further it gets from the classical Disney golden age of animation fundamentals and into computer-assisted laziness and shortcuts, and Gerald Scarfe is to animation what Salvador Dali was to paint.

Flashdance, while the original took place in the 80's, a remake for it could take place in today's generation. It could have its own good stuff, like like the Karate Kid remake did.

They already did a prequel to terminator.
I also think a remake of Twelve Monkeys should be in order. Here are some more:
-Pet Semetary (actually make it good)
-Nosterafu (the tall, hooked nosed, long fingered dracula thing just creeps the fuck out of me)
-starship troopers
-demolition man

Actually I totally agree with this as long as they don't do a hilariously bad Keanu Reeves "Dracula" or just as bad but less hilarious "Dracula 2000" sort of thing and actually make use of that slow-building creeping horror rather than the things-jump-out-at-you-and-murder-you-wh ile-you're-having-sex "horror" that American cinema has been pushing the last half century or so.

Definatly. This fixation with sex in horror movies has to stop. I also hate the "OMGESUS! (Insert generic character here) just died! Im gonna go (insert barely defendable/escapable place here) so I don't get killed."
and the whole masked-man-that-take-way-too-much-physic al-punishment thing has to stop as well.

So right now I see a few things kind of dominating the horror movie scene:
- Your old Jason Voorhees/Micheal Myers/Freddy Kreuger/Leatherface rehashings and clones because, guess what, they still make money
- Zombies, Werewolves, and Vampires "reimagined" (i.e. the latter two made into teen superheroes and the Zombies just rehashed over and bloody over until all potential blunt objects, fun looking guns and power tools, and society collapsing scenarios are beaten to death)
- Paranormal Activity. Oh hey look, a yank rig, shaky camcorder, night vision, and some "expert" coming in and talking about how angry the "presence" is. Also something jumps out at you.
- Japan, which usually revolves around creepy ass dead looking children.
- Torture porn. Human Centipede, Hostel, Saw...rather than scaring you, it's literal horror, as in "hey here's some depictions of awful horrific things happening to people". It doesn't take much imagination or talent to come up with, people have been doing unspeakable shit to each other since prehistory.
- Whatever stupid ass premise Stephen King is shitting out these days.

Well then that is somewhat okay then. A prequel sure. I mean hell the Broadway musical Wicked is a prequel of The Wizard of Oz in a way so why not?

Jurassic Park and Back To The Future are ones I would like to see as well.
My List
Good Burger - I always and will always love Kenan & Kel. It is one of the bet shows on Earth and the Good Burger movie was just funny with that tiny bit of serious in it that every movie needs. Who wouldn't want this movie remade?
Ernest - A new Ernest movie with Jim Varney would've been nice and possibly would've introduced him to a new generation but he died so that wish will never come true.
Jaws - I would also have loved to seen a remake of Jaws with the original cast from the first one but this time with more modern equipment and more than one shark.
Karate Kid - A new Karate Kid with the original cast that is still alive showing where the original Karate Kid is now.
Can't think of anymore at the moment though so this is the end.

That movie was all about Keenan and Kel interactions, that's like remaking a Laurel and Hardy movie or a Marx Bros. movie, it's silly without them as they are the raison d'être for that movie in the first place.

Well that's not really a remake that's a sequel

One thing I think I didn't really like about remakes, at least the monster ones, is that the plot has some significant changes to it.
A couple of monster films that come to mind include Mighty Joe Young and Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman.
They both die in the originals, but they somehow survive in their respective remakes. Not sure why they did that, but that's how it is; Godzilla on the other hand was a bit of a flip when they did a "remake" here in the States ('Zilla actually dies).
If anything, the movies that should be remade, are the ones that really bombed at the box office.
It may feel quite recent to some here, but Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within should be one of those. In the remake, it should feauture content that would better closely resemble something that Final Fantasy gamers can relate to, especially like having Nobuo Uematsu score the film this time around.
I'd love to see a remake of Wargames, where Adam Sessler plays the ill-fated blond haired man that the late John Spencer portrayed. Just seeing him in it, would make my day!

I would probably want to have a remake of Dr. Strangelove. It's one of the best movies of all time and it seems like it could be updated. I guess it's hard to top nuclear weapons destroying the world, but there could be something like how the weapons are connected to terrorists, perhaps. Maybe there could be a remake of some classic animated film such as "Bambi"? I'm NOT talking about sequels, obviously.

Oh really? And what is this phantom movie called?
Here's a list of The Terminator movies. You tell me which one is apparently a prequel.
The Terminator (1984)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Terminator 2: 3-D Battle Across Time (1996)
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003)
Terminator Salvation (2009)

Salvation is sort of a prequel/sequel. It's set on the future but all the time travel to past that occurs in The Terminator hasn't happen yet (The T-800 is just being built and hasn't been sent to 1985 by Skynet and Kyle Resse is a teenager).

No. Terminator Salvation is not a prequel. It's set in 2018 so it's definitely not a prequel.

There are some movies that had a great concept and poor execution. I never saw Paparazzi but I heard it was bad, despite the interesting concept. Same with 1984.
If I offer to help you in a post, PM me to get it. I often forget to revisit threads.

Dune.
Seriously, from what I've heard the 80's version of the movie is shit as well as being completely innaccurate to the book. It would be a dream to have an accurate, classy, well planned movie version of Dune.

NO!
Anime should never be turned into live action movies, ever.
And if you try to remake a pile of shit, it will only get shittier.
