I just figured it out lip sync (like 5 minutes before this post). I've been trying to figure out how some of the good flashes here were made so I can practice various techniques. But I don't quite get is how some characters and really complex object were drawn. I know at least few people have those tablets that allow you to draw straight into flash. But for the majority, what do you do? Do you draw it on paper, scan, clean and import or something? Or do you really do it all in flash?
I have a basic grasp on the concepts of how animation in general is made, but I don't quite know how specifically to apply those concepts in flash. I've been trying to teach my self how to animate in flash, but there are certain things I don't even know how to approach yet, like this problem.
In short, if I want to animate more than just stick figures and other mouse drawn gobbely-goop, what is the best way to go about doing it?

I think nowadays everybody is drawing with a tablet, unless they just happen to have incredible mouse skills. Back in the day I would do my animation on paper with pencil, scan it and "ink" it in flash with the line tool. That method was pretty time consuming but gave the animation a cleaner and more professional look in my opinion.
I just use a tablet now because it's so much faster to just draw directly into flash.
But if I don't have a tablet, what other options are there?

buy a really cheap wacom bamboo for about 60-80 bucks. That's one problem solved right there
