seriously what is up with those people? every time i go to see a video review of one of above games i always see horrid flame wars in the comment sections of CoD and BF fanboys bashing each other's games and saying how retarded/homosexual the other is.

what have we come!? now people can't like a game peacefully anyomore?

it would be understanble if they were similar games but they're not! they are completly diffirent! it's like halo fanboys would start bashing starcraft players..

to me, the saddest thing about this is that people ignore the fact that MW3 is more of the same! why i don't see arguements aout whether they should even buy the game if they already have BO???

-controls
-point systems
-storylines
-game engines
-character/class setup
-vehicle usage
-frame rates
-weapon stats
-game modes
-style
-team/game size
-playability
-dynamics

...so really nothings different except for mostly everything...

Apparently these days, games need to be more competent, even if that means generating massive amounts of fanboys/fangirls on opposing ends of genres like this.

Games will be different, just like consoles are different. What may not be seen as fair today, perhaps aiding in the "elitist" comments you hear, is the fact that BattleField 3 is not available for the Wii, unlike Modern Warfare 3.

These problems will only continue to escalate, until at some point the world decides to become less divided up, and more unified, and have the "big 3" console makers or whoever they may be in the future, come together and make one awesome console.

Perhaps even go as far to have once competing software devs merge ideas, reducing the "Team Edward vs Team whatever that other guy's name is"-like quarrel between gamers.

Yeah, I know this sounds very before its time and perhaps impossible, but certainly something where we'd see less complaint threads of this type around.

Well I wouldn't call them small differences, but you do make a point...but the same point could be said for all games, movies, books, and television shows. A genre is a very wide veiw of something and, going back to the "small diferences", a generalization. Yes, they are similar in concept, but vastly different in execution. Saying they are the same is like saying Two Worlds and Skyrim are the same.

In my opinion, Madden and Call of Duty are the 2 worst franchises for the industry.

They perpetuate the idea that you can just release the same game each year, and make minor differences, and people will buy it.

The distance between 2 numbered games has changed from tons of new gameplay features to new campaign and some new multiplayer.

I mean Modern Warfare has taken no real risks, and could easily just add the new games as DLC (because nobody gives a crap about single player anyways, and from the size of it, they could have just did a DLC story pack like GTA 4 did with episodes from Liberty City)

And Madden shuts down their previous game's servers, and has a contract, making it the only NFL game that will be released until like 2015.

Why Call of Duty MW3 and Madden 11 get anything over an 8 (They're the same game every year) is astonishing.
