Tips? Well, don't make a melee only based character, those are pretty boring. Never use horses, just run and jump around wherever you go. And finally, make a save file right before the end of the tutorial, unless you want to go through all that shit again.

Why is it stupid to want to play a good game?

Ignore Personality and Speech attributes/skills. This is not one of those games where quests have diplomatic solutions.
You shouldn't do any quests until level 25, so you'll get the best version of every quest item.
Just train your block, heavy/light armor and blade.

Sounds fun.

It isn't. It's just that i'm such a damn completionist in Oblivion, i needs to get the best of everything.
For some quick cash and experience join the arena! Also assassinate and innocent person.
i got techniques dripping out my butt cheeks; sleep on my stomach so i don't fuck up my sheets.

Is there a karma system like Fallout? I was thinking of being a thief like guy but i would feel bad when I hear that damn bad karma sound.

Nope, but people will judge you if you get caught. So like a guard would be less friendly if you were a convicted criminal. But yeah kill a beggar, see what happens.

So as long as no one finds out there will be no consequences? Woohoo! The cities population of bums respawns right? I'll be the greatest bum killer in all of Oblivion!

No, but repeatedly assualting people and talking yourself out of trouble as if nothing ever happened is fun.
I'd recommend joining all the guilds and trying them all out to see what you like, I really enjoyed doing the Dark Brotherhood quests (didn't we all?), and I liked the fighters quild quests as well. And as people have said before, I'd stay away from melee only classes; they're very dull and the weapons dont have that much variation. A bow's the way to go ;). Overall just have fun with one of the best games on the ps3! :)

yeah, good luck with that, since every guard is a god damn psychic.

Alteration is the fastest leveling skill. Alchemy is easy too.
Its all fun and vidya games until level scaling kicks in
Assuming your playing on the PC get anti-level scaling mods
Having to fight a gazillion Daedroths and frost atronachs isn't fun at all, even when you win its so boring, like hitting a fucking brick wall

Kill the bum... even when you think people don't see you there is always someone watching.
Bwahahaha.
For I am and forever shall be... a master ruseman.
Get those stupid Oblivion gates finished as soon as possible. Those levels are the shittest part of the game. And do the assassins guild :)
You're going to have a blast. Just give it some time before the story really starts to pick up. Don't hesitate to do side quests either. Be open minded and EXPLORE. There's millions of secrets and little cool things in Oblivion to find.
Yea, I farm Anal Penguins. Do something about it.
If a horse can see you stealing/killing, it counts as being spotted somehow, as if the horse is going to report you. Also, it's fun to do the mage's guild quest first so you can enchant your own items. Then you can enchant several items with a certain percentage of invisibility. If you do it right, you can have an outfit (don't forget rings and necklaces) that add up to 100% invisibility. Then you just cruise on through the thieve's guild and dark brotherhood, unless you don't want to be cheap like that. Plus, you can go about killing people in the middle of a big crowd and watch people freak out.
I didn't cheat like this until the last few missions in the thieve's guild, though. I did the dark brotherhood as a different character and did it right. I built up my sneak and archery skill and had lots of fun shooting people in the head with arrows from far away. Also, the staff of worms is a lot of fun. And watch out when a certain mage tells you to go into a well and get a ring off of a corpse. That shit will weigh you down and you'll drown. So, drop all of your inventory first.
Oh, and before you do that mission near the end of the main quest where the great gate opens, save because the game could crash, especially if you did the gates outside of all the towns/cities and got the maximum amount of guards to come help. And be sure not to have clothing items or weapons you don't want being featured on the statue that is built of you. I happened to have a hood and a bow with me as my fighter dude and it showed him wearing it and holding up his bow, which was not what I wanted.
And don't kill the bums if you don't want to piss off the thieve's guild.
And get the house in Skingrad as soon as you can and look for a nice little treasure inside. There's a pretty good amulet with a detect life effect on it.
I second using uespwiki. It's very useful.
