First off, Evil-Dog, the author of Lab of the Dead, is a good friend of mine.
He used to be a programmer at Ubisoft, working his ass off on some crappy games like Splinter Cell or Assassin's Creed. He quit, since he had genius game ideas, and decided to start making games on his own, with SickDeadFiend. He now works his ass off on his games, by himself, and doesn't really care about what YOU think. So let me tell you this: if some assholes that never did anything productive, EVER, of their whole short life, think his stuff is shit, or have negative crap to say about it, I'm pretty sure he earned the right to shut them down how he wants. If you had the potential to make games that attracts millions of players, wouldn't you like to reply frankly to the 14 years old critics who will end up working in a McDonalds after not getting their high school diplomas? Seriously, why did you even make this horrendous thread? Go make something constructive instead of complaining about how the author of amazing games think about a bunch of octomorons.

I would like to say that I am a good friend of Evil-Dog, henceforth referred to as ED. I have known ED for quite a while now, and I have to say that lately he is slipping. It is getting more and more difficult to get him up when the time comes. I think ED must be depressed because he lost his job at UBISOFT due to his flaccidity. If only he had stuck with his courses in high school, he would have gained the necessary skills to keep his job at UBISOFT instead of flipping burgers in the mornings and programming games alone in his basement at night.

Grumpy Tom? I left a long constructive review, pointing out the aspects I loved and disliked. Areas where the flash could have thrived through ... What did I get in return? They responded to the posts above and below me, but marked my review as negative.
If we all posted topics for 'cool stuff we found' this forum would be flooded. I have so many flash works that I love that not many others know of that I could post one every day for a year or two. But I really dislike some of the dickhole egotistical authors here.

I concur. R-Bot sounds like a great idea. After all, reviewers who leave negative reviews on popular flashes have to deal with the entourage of fanboys marking their review as useless until it's deleted.
I personally do not like the delete-reviews-automatically feature. Unsurprisingly, several of my old reviews were deleted today within a 1 hour period. Surely, this was due to forum rage over this topic.

Evil-Dog, as a non-developer, I will always struggle to appreciate the amount of time, effort and pure graft that goes into creating your games. Kind of how some people will never realise the effort that goes into being creative generally.
At the end of the day, opinion is subjective and if we're going to be negative, we should always try to curb it towards constructive criticism, i.e. the parts that allow developers such as yourself to improve your content, as opposed to "this was shit, I prefer MLP!" Everyone must realise that they have a back button on their browser and if they really detest a piece that much, they should employ this, rather than ramming an opinion down the throats of the watching public via reviews, threads on the BBS or any other media outlet.
For the record, I quite like Lab of the Dead, though I wish you'd branch out to something other than zombies :P This has nothing to do with my stance on this thread.

if i was capable of producing art on that caliber i would be aware of it and secure in my personal talents and skills to the point where a negative comment by a 14 year old is meaningless to my ego and i don't even have to acknowledge it. i don't care either way, i thought the game was fine. i just think it's kind of petty that a game developer on evil-dog's level would actually go out of his way to give a shit about a few negative comments when it's like 95% praise.

This is NEWGROUNDS. I certainly hope I'm not the only one who notices the assholes that frequently decide to flood the General forum with spam and offensive, childish pornography. We should all know that Newgrounds has a NUMEROUS population of trolls on it.
There are users out there who might play/watch something on the site for a couple of seconds, then write a blatantly unintelligent review solely based on their initial experience of the submission. Some can suddenly decide they just don't like someone and blam out of spite. I've done it. I'm sure many of you have done it, too. It just works that way. For whatever reason, people can get butthurt or angry, and do stupid things. If we didn't occasionally do or say things we don't really think about, we wouldn't be human.
I don't understand what's to get all worked up about. It's just a natural fact of life.

Well, this thread was originally intended to point out something that was obstructing honest critique of a popular flash game. The creator of a flash can say quite harsh things to reviewers with no chance of rebut.

From what I've seen, the review responses are on par with the reviews themselves. People pile on the negative comments about things they disliked to justify their unfairly low rating, yet they fail to mention what's actually GOOD about the game. I'd say that the artwork, animation, presentation, and overall creativity put into Lab of the Dead are all great. Good luck to anybody trying to argue that. So is it fair to give the game a 1 or 3 out of 10 and rant about how you didn't like the absence of a "skip animation" option? It's only one aspect. If it's that bothersome, don't play the game. The authors didn't make you fork over 20 bucks or anything.
If I spent months making a song and received mounds of negative reviews complaining about one little thing they didn't like, I'd probably get annoyed too. (Although I make an effort to keep all of my responses positive, no matter how ignorant the reviewer may be lol)
So yeah, I know this point has already been made. As a contributor to the site, I just thought I'd get my opinion in :)
If someone leaves a review saying "I don't like it" the author will leave a comment along the lines of "What a good piece of constructive criticism /sarcasm" That's fair enough as the review didn't give any reasoning as to why he doesn't like it.
BUT there are always lots of reviews that say "10/10 this was great!" and the author won't complain about the lack of content in those review. He only complains about it in the negative ones.
It shouldn't matter if a review is negative or positive as long as the justify the reasons they liked/hated it.
