Artist help needed for Videogame website
Attention art people! Do you like videogames? The internet? Videogame news Websites like IGN.com, or Gamespot.com? Do you have
a natural born talent for drawing and animating? Would you like to be part of a brand new videogame news website?
If you answered yes to all these questions, we are looking for you!
A little about ourselves: we are two young guys with big dreams of becoming the number one website in the internet with the main
focus on the videogame industry. The website is still under construction with the goal of launching by the end of this year, but
we still need many more people to be part of our team with different areas of expertise, ranging from multimedia artist to audio
technician, web programmer, to article writers with specific focus on pc, apple products, movies, art, etc....
Now keep in mind that this is a new website with only two members so far, we are not rich, there is no big corporations in charge,
no place of our own to work on the site (our houses for now), in other words, we are starting from rock bottom, no paycheck,
no salaries, no funding, no investors.........YET. Just our dreams of becoming big and hopefully moving to San Francisco, LA,
or Austin where most videogame companies and websites are based.
Now you may be asking, "Why would I join you noobs? What makes you so special? IGN and Gamespot are too big, too strong, you will
never make it!" Well, if you do a little bit of research in the following url (http://www.ebizmba.com/articles/video-g ame-websites),
you will see that the top fifteen videogame websites based on monthly visitors, you will see that there are only two sites
that take in 26 million viewers per month, IGN and Gamespot, everybody else tries to imitate the same format, they are followers,
no innovation whatsoever, boring, plain, dull; simply put, I would not invest in them if I was an investor. The only site that is a
bit different is gametrailers.com, since their main focus is videos, but still they trail IGN and Gamespot by millions. The
difference in viewers between the top two and the rest is just too big. There is one site at the very bottom called Destructoid which
was founded by a hispanic dude, and it has been online for about 5 years, they take in 1.5 million viewers and if you take a look
at their staff photo, they have like 100 people working there!!! I'm pretty sure they don't work for free, somebody must be paying
all those folks. So, they must be doing great, and probably were picked up by a bigger company.
Now, take a look at that site and compare it to IGN..........done? What is so special about it? Which website would you choose? See my
point? Destructoid is ok, but do you honestly think it will ever reach IGN status with 26+ million viewers? The only unique thing I
see at Destructoid is their mascot Mr. Destructoid. So, this is where we thought of something different, our format is unique, our
ideas are new and fresh, we will reach the 26 million mark, and we are not stopping there, we want to go over the 30 million mark.
Anyways, the main point of this flyer is that for right now we really need an artist/illustrator/animator that can bring to life our idea for
two mascots that will represent the site; two young gamers, a guy and a girl, and later draw more characters, make a weekly comic, etc...
Remember guys, there is no compensation, nobody is getting paid, we are starting from scratch.
There you have it ladies and gentlemen, our big dream, to become the number one videogame news entertainment website. It is going to
be an awesome ride and we need people to stay with us for the long haul, it may be rough at first, but we will come out on top; we
will be number one.

If you're as sure that you're gonna make it as you say you are; why can't you pay anyone you hire... once you make. It big you'll earn back that money easily. Right now all that people have to base their decision on is your sweet-talking.

Sometimes I feel like I'm on Dragon's Den when I see some of these collab threads, since
- you haven't provided a link to your site, if there is one,
- a lot of this message is waffle, and
- you've even pointed out why this is a bad idea by showing there are numerous game review site, and it is havily weighted to the two top runners.

Dam, talk about Betty Downers, tough crowd, we kind of expected these type of responses anyways, haha. Waffles, sweet talk, bad idea, no website, Dragon's Dens, OMG!!! Chilax fellow newgrounders, (I'm suddendly thinking IHOP for some reason, lol) no need to be negative or hostile, we are only trying to get some help with drawing, since we are not experts at drawing. The reason we don't pay anybody yet, cuz, well, we are freaking poor!!! Cheez! The economy is killing us!!! We come here asking for help cuz newgrounds has alot of talented illustrators and animators, and we want to open up a videogame news website and BAM!!! we get blasted......and there is no link yet cuz we are not done coding and the website is still under test phase, it is heavily media based and we are ironing out the final product. So please, constructive criticism, positive feedback appreciated from those truly interested, thanks. Waffles, Dragon's Dens, and sweet talk, lol, suddenly crave pancakes while playing WOW. :D

In order to criticise something, you need to present something. Anything.
Like that site you're creating.
Not waffle, and not sweet talk.
The reason we don't pay anybody yet, cuz, well, we are freaking poor!!! Cheez! The economy is killing us!!!
Here's a wake-up call: the site designers you want to employ are also poor.
Here's a poster that people can use to work out if they should work for free.
You are not a charity, you are making a business.
As soon as the site is made, you will be earning money, but the site designer won't earn a cent. If you are confident in your business, you would have some money to start it up with, and some of that money will go towards the site design.

Try not to be discouraged by Turkey, Deadartcore. He's clearly bitter about something and doesn't want you to succeed. Let's analyze his negativity, shall we?
First, he expected a link to a web-site currently in development, as in not finished yet, not out. Don't worry, he'll get why that doesn't work out. Then he says that your message is a waffle, damning evidence that Turkey frequently fails to differentiate between food and words. While he does present the argument that the on-line video game news community is already flooded with TWO juggernauts. I have to say - there's still a ton of money to be made on video game reporting. A ton. Suggesting that two organizations has it covered and there's no room for more is moronic.
See, Turkey doesn't realize that the amazing thing about people is their ability to take nothing and turn it into something. According to Turkey, if you were serious about this you'd have money saved up - because how much money you have determines your seriousness. As I'm sure Turkey would tell you, no web-site could ever become profitable unless there was money saved up for the site, you know, like Tom did when he was in high school and he started New Grounds - he had all of his investment capital in line and totally didn't rely heavily on people providing free content.
Ignore people like Turkey. He can sing his crap tune about how the only good ideas are the ones with money behind them, but the fact is he spends a lot of time as a moderator for New Grounds, which I'm pretty sure he receives absolutely no compensation for.

What's to analyze? I stated my reasons.
First, he expected a link to a web-site currently in development, as in not finished yet, not out. Don't worry, he'll get why that doesn't work out.
I will never get that, for the same reason that i will never get why a person who has not written anything down and no experience will look for a team to make twelve 20 minute long zombie cartoons.
While he does present the argument that the on-line video game news community is already flooded with TWO juggernauts. I have to say - there's still a ton of money to be made on video game reporting. A ton.
Fair point.
If there's a lot of money to be made, there should be no reason for Deadartcore to not pay the web designer up front.
See, Turkey doesn't realize that the amazing thing about people is their ability to take nothing and turn it into something.
Normally people have something to present other people, to ensure people don't waste their time on projects that die on the client's end, and that they get no return.
According to Turkey, if you were serious about this you'd have money saved up - because how much money you have determines your seriousness.
I never said how much money determines your seriousness.
i did say that this is not a charity, this is a business. I refer you back to this poster.
As I'm sure Turkey would tell you, no web-site could ever become profitable unless there was money saved up for the site, you know, like Tom did when he was in high school and he started New Grounds - he had all of his investment capital in line and totally didn't rely heavily on people providing free content.
Tom designed the website by himself.
Deadartcore is relying on free content from the site design.
Are you on my side of the argument, or Deadartcore's?
Ignore people like Turkey. He can sing his crap tune about how the only good ideas are the ones with money behind them, but the fact is he spends a lot of time as a moderator for New Grounds, which I'm pretty sure he receives absolutely no compensation for.
Comparing the workload of moderatorship to, say, a site administrator,
is like comparing the work of animator on a 3 minute Flash cartoon to that of a character animator of twelve 20 minute long zombie cartoons.
======================================
[Turkey] says that your message is a waffle, damning evidence that Turkey frequently fails to differentiate between food and words.
Definition of waffle.
Your "waffle" has just been served.

Mmmmmmmmmmm waffles........sweet, sweet waffles. What is this the Food Network?!? haha, anyways, yea thanks Deafbeats, exactly our point, you sir are a smart man, unlike Mr. Waffle that expects everybody that starts something from scratch to be multitalented like Tom Fulp. Web designer? We got that covered Waffle, it is 100% our design. Sound designer/article writer? we got that covered as well. Two guys with specific areas of expertise, we are not illustrators/drawing artists, I mean we know how to draw a bit, but it is not our natural born talent, we need talented people in their specific areas, what better place to look in than Newgrounds? By the way, I like your penisland site, oops, I mean your penland site, might just purchase a few penises, I mean pens for our business. :)
Thanks for serving us all waffles, they were tasty, mmmmmmm yes, so good. So guys, how about Thanksgiving coming up? Im gonna enjoy killing and eating my TURKEY this year, mmmmmm TURKEY........Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Aigis, you my man are very wise as well, we totally understand your point, most people want compensation, we completely understand, but it does not apply to everybody, there is gotta be some people out there that would do it with out thinking of MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, and that believes in a dream, all the big companies now days started with hope and hard work, and many did not have funding or money at the beginning. We have our balloon, and if some people want to join our balloon, then they are welcome with open arms, such negativity and people wanting to pop our balloon is expected, especially now days, and in the US and our negativity and economy. This "Aversion" is understandable, we are just hoping to find people to share our dream with, we are positive and feel confident that we will succeed, which everybody in the US should apply to their everyday lives. It is not a GUARANTEE, but we hope for the best, and hope is all we have right now.
