Really Scaring people on Halloween 2011-10-27 02:30:00 Reply

I've been racking my brain on a subtle but practical way to get people to feel REAL fear. Not just, "oh haha, they jumped out of the bushes" scare but "Oh shit, I might die" Scare. And doing this while trick-or-treating and I think I may have found it.

The Costume:
- An old looking Hoody that a large front pocket
- A pair of Sunglasses that are tinted a dark black
- A plastic Jason Mask from Wal-Mart or Party Store
- A Dark colored plastic Gun (one that looks kinda real from a distance)

How To Wear:
- Place Sunglasses firmly on face
- Put mask over Sunglasses so that the lens fit the holes in the mask (concealing the eyes and most of the face)
- Pull Hoody over youre head to hide the straps on theback of head/ back of your head entirely.

The Effect: The man comes off as a simple guy wanting candy with a Jason Mask and Hoody from a distance. But up close it's a little different. You realize you can't see the man's face at all, the mask obsures it and the sunglasses keep you away from the eyes, the hoody is pulled over as if they're hiding from something. Or, don't want to be seen... Suddenly, you get a prickling sensation in the back of your neck, you feel as if something is a miss as you answer the door and this man is standing there. You cautiously wait to see what he does and then he reaches into his front pocket, out of one comes a gun, a shot of adrenaline shoots up threw your body, you're not sure how to react but it appears as if he is now ready to burst through you're now open door and rob you blind because you assumed he was out for candy. And out of the other side of the pocket just before you could come to a sound conclusion, is a Wal-Mart bag filled with candy, and the man says "Trick or Treat". You suddenly realize what is happening and upon further observation you realize that the gun is quite clearly plastic. Nervously, you drop candy in and quickly close the door, you racked your nerves for nothing but you knew out of all the ghouls and ghosts out tonight, that encounter was far scarier.

The Conclusion: A true sense of fear if there ever was one. For what is scarier than the possible loss of possesions, or even loved ones? Nothing, even if you have no basis to conclude this man is here to do such things, you can not help but fear the possiblity.

Of course, now that I think about it, the gun might be...excessive. If I do pull it out before saying trick or treat, they may call the police. But that's the price you pay, the Gun is the selling point, taking away that is like taking the fangs and claws off of Tigers, you're left with a kitten. Sure it's a scary kitty, but there's no bite. Well, I still don't think true fear is worth a night in jail for disturbing the peace or some shit. Or having some crazy bastard attack me for having it, or starting a panic by having it fall to the ground near kids. You know what, maybe this world isn't ready for that kind of scare but hell, at least I can still wear the mask.

Then you get shot, wind up on the news, and possibly in a life or death struggle on a hospital bed while fighting the serious injuries you sustained from your little prank. Yeah, sounds fantastic.

Then jail if you recover.

Nothing of that actually happened since you tripped because you wore sunglasses at night.

yeah you could do that scare with the fake gun...it would scare some people big time. But then the cops would want in on it and they would want to show you thier REAL guns. Next thing you know you are in jail or laying in a hospital bed recovering from a gunshot wound if you are lucky. Dont be stupid dude. Pulling a scare like that can and WILL cause problems.

I'd be scared and I would love to see someone do that. You should get a gang of guys to all do that and have people pull out knives and stuff to.

I can't believe that all the people above me that aren't OP actually didn't read the last two sentences in which I state that I wouldn't actually do it but it would be good in THEORY. How dumb can you get? Are you that illiterate? Here you are having the audacity to call me dumb, yet you won't read a full OP. How can ten people not read the full post? Seriously?

I will now quote the last two sentences:

"Well, I still don't think true fear is worth a night in jail for disturbing the peace or some shit. Or having some crazy bastard attack me for having it, or starting a panic by having it fall to the ground near kids. You know what, maybe this world isn't ready for that kind of scare but hell, at least I can still wear the mask"

For those who don't know how to interpret those sentences, I just clearly renounced my actual toting of a fake firearm because I know I'm not stupid enough to do something like that. It is good in theory, and in an ideal situation, would go off without a hitch, but in a world driven by assumtion, such tactics would indeed land someone in jail, or shot. I know this much, because its common sense, and I know that doing so would be stupid, I therefore, without having been told by anyone, already knew not to do it. And still don't.

Do you realize now that reading is an important skill? Come on. It's actually really irritating and a bit ironic to have ten fucking people tell me I'M an idiot but than NOT read the full post and realize, "oh shit, he wasn't going to in the first place"

Understand?

I'm not trying to sound like a dick by belittling other people's reading skills, but my feelings and pride are a bit hurt when called an idiot, even over the internet, when I, in fact, am no idiot and even proved not to be so. That's at least how I feel. And all of it could have been avoided if you just read the full post.

This is completely dangerous and you could end up in jail (for the gun thing). Unless the gun is multicolored like a water pistol, or has a very clear orange muzzle, what you would be doing is illegal.

You know, if so many people think the same way, there's a good reason for it.

I did read the OP in its entirety.

I did read the OP in its entirety.

And yet, I have undeniable proof that I had no intention to actually bring the gun as I've stated. Therefore, making your opinoins entirely baseless.

Also, you read the enitre OP and yet still think I was going out with the gun? How?

If you want to scare someone to the point they think they're gonna die, do this to them.

I just saw a very scary halloween costume and I think it became an issue amongst the people who lives in terrorist infested areas. It is our culture, it's not a costume they say.

Anyhow, the halloween costume is a white garment with time bombs attached to it.
