Ok, I think we all noticed the lack of good horror games around here. Dead Space was a step in the right direction, but we need something more horrifying , like the fatal frame series. Resident Evil just doesn't cut it anymore.

Silent hill 8 is around the corner and its pretty cool that it's a return to old school survival horror but they are amping it up a lot!
The weapons will be very scarce(like you can only carry ONE weapon).

Top 10 Horror games

And yes, I'm aware it's my own opinion; but there is hundreds of others like it, so go look about on youtube.

Anything by Frictional Games seems to be popular these days. Great atmosphere and gameplay.

Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason, but you'll need a good PC for that. Also Condemned: Criminal Origins and Condemned 2: Bloodshot are great, even if 2 shits all over itself in the end.

Amnesia is always fun.

It's only fun if you get a scar out of it

Agreed. Condemned 2 was pretty much you playing as a drunk homeless man, seeing weird ghost shit.

The first one was great though.

If you want to be genuinely scared, not just cheap shocks, play Amnesia. In the middle of the night. With headphones. Alone.

No, no, no, no, FUCK NO.
If you think that was a good horror game, get the fuck out. That was a giant leap in a direction completely perpendicular to proper horror.

-.- Meh think most horror games are shit they either go to action-y"Ex:DeadSpace/Fear/RE" or go to mood/suspense "Ex:Amnesia/Siren" Best horror games find a good ground between both personally I'd recommend original silent hill or silent hill 2 i liked them personally thought they had a pretty solid ground between action/suspense&mood.

The dead linger is a game in development which will supposedly focus on survival horror rather than a left 4 dead/ dead rising kinda thing where you press a button and you murder every zombie within a 10 mile radius... (okay, maybe not that much, but you're still pretty powerful).

There's no actual gameplay footage yet as the game hasn't been in development for too long, but it sounds like it will be a little like dead island with resident evil. At least that's what i presume it'll be like...

It also sounds like the world will be randomly generated similar to minecraft, so i guess you wouldn't expect the same thing every time.

Basically, it focuses more on realism (not to the extent that it will ruin the fun, but still pretty realistic), and less on you killing millions of zombies in a few hours.

The best is Doom 3.
I know t don't seem it,but some moments in that game are just heart-stopping.
