Nostalgic Crisps 2011-10-22 08:29:39 Reply

I'm sure most British users will recognise the image below. It should bring back fond memories of their days running around the playgrounds at primary school. I found packets of Space Raiders in my kitchen today and I just had to try them again. They are as awesome as I remember them being. Just a shame they cost 15p and not 10p now.

What crisps or snacks did your primary school sell at play time?

Amazin Fruit. The gummies with the blue bag and little bears dancing on the front. I haven't seen them since I was a little kid.

Well, they weren't sold at my elementary school but they were possibly the best candy ever.

Fucking Space Raiders were amazing! They still make the Spicy flavour ones, which IMO are the best.

Also:

Roast Beef Monster Munch (they still make these, but are for some reason harder to acquire than the other flavours)
Walkers French Fries, when the packaging wasn't boring and plain.
Chipsticks! OMG

Also most people might not remember this but when I was about 7 or 8, they came out with a Looney Tunes-themed line of crisps where the crisps were round (more or less) and had drawings of the cartoon characters somehow burned into them. They were wicked.

Oh god that image does take me back.

I was never a big fan of Space Invaders though really. Found them to be a bit too pickle-y.

I was in a Coop store the other day, I saw these below and I felt a wave of yummy nostalgia. I resisted the temptation to buy them.

I still have those quite regularly. Couple times a week maybe. They are awesome!

Only the ones that Walkers sold. They were never a particular favourite of mine though.

At 10/22/11 10:13 AM, platypuspwn wrote: Pickled onion? That honestly sounds disgusting.

They have quite a strong tangy taste. They're really good. If you ever find any packets of pickled onion crisps, don't hesitate to buy them.

My grandad still buys those and gives me a pack whenever I'm round at his house.

Well, as long as you're speaking English, I think our word choice is more valid.

I used to buy them because they were so cheap but I hated them. I don't know why I just didn't stop buying them.

Oh I remember those.

Honest to god it had one of the most disgusting flavours ever for any sweet - Horseradish.

It made me gag to all hell.

Some others weren't too bad. I vividly remember cola being quite nice.

I used to steal money from my mum and sneak to the shop to buy these. They were often repulsive flavours.

You know what makes the nostalgia that much worse is moving to another country where they have virtually none of the brands of snack you loved when you were growing up.
I'd kill for a bag of Nik Naks right now, even the Scampi flavoured ones that made your breath stink, but I may never have them again. That's fucking sad.
