James Rolfe, better known as the Angry Video Game Nerd, is now taking donations for the upcoming AVGN movie. He has been working on the script for years, and now is ready to bring the full lengthed feature to his fans.

You can donate HERE . At a website very similar to Kickstarter, called Indegogo. Yes you can still get rewards for donating and such. But anyways, that's not the point...

Fellow Newgrounders, show your Nerd support by helping this movie be the best that it can be. With a higher budget comes; better special effects, higher visual and audio quality, and larger distribution. Best case scenario, James even hopes to bring the movie to your local theatres (Wouldn't that be something!)

So start donating!

I'll probably donate some ($10-$20) to this, I really like his videos, so I'm sure I would love whatever he does with a larger budget. I'd also definitely buy it on dvd whenever it becomes available.

Haha, no my mistake. I was actually trying to quote a previous poster sarcastically saying "Wow an internet movie!" I was trying to refer back to my statement that it could be released in cinemas, but now I see what I did was confusing.

Anyhoo...donations anyone?

I like AVGN but that's a dumb idea. He's great in small doses but to take over an hour would be hard and probably hurt his internet career too.

It won't just be a 90 minute game review with the nerd cursing. It'll be story driven and adventurous. Think about Rocky, it's not a 2 hour boxing match, it's the story of the boxer. And think of Wayne's World the movie. It's not an extra long skit, it's a story containing the characters from the show. outside the usual settings.

James Rolfe has been making movies for years, and much much longer than the AVGN series, which originally was just a side project. James is a movie maker first, and always will be. This is his chance to hit mainstream, and possibly get more opportunities for making feature length films of different stlyes, mainly horror, as that is what he's best at.

He has nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

I don't want to piss on the parade here, but how exactly is he supposed to make a movie? He reviews things? he isn't really a script writer though is he? I love him and all, but a movie? I just think it's a bit silly.

So it's a 90 minute version of one of his non-reviewing story episodes?

I'll have to pass.

It seems strange he would need to have donations because when I think of Internet movies, I am reminded of the ThatGuyWithTheGlasses films "Kickassia" and "Surburban Knights". Of course, I imagine that Cinemassacre has a lot fewer people worker on it than TGWTG so that must be why. I probably won't donate anything, because I recently lost my job. Maybe if I get another job and a paycheck, I will.

Did you not read the OP, where I said he has been working on the script for years, and another where I stated he has been an independent movie maker much longer than he's been doing the AVGN series? He is first and foremost a director and writer, acting was just something that came with making movies with little to no help.

If the question is if he's qualified or not, the answer is yes.

I agree. As short as it was, the Mr. bucket video was freaking amazing. I actually felt like I was watching a scary movie at times, albeit a very humorous one.

Makes me even more excited for the AVGN movie.

He said right in the video that it would be along the same style as the R.O.B. and NWC reviews where it's more story based. Is no one paying attention to that detail?

"non-reviewing story episode"
Pretty sure that means something close to more story based.

As in, more Mr. Bucket shit.

Middle school? Then you aren't 20 as your profile says

I don't see the appeal/humor in an angry guy swearing often and drinking beer every few seconds.

Which would make it easy to see why you don't.

Well, the funny thing is that I don't drink, and I don't swear very often, but I still love the series. I think it's mainly because I grew up with a lot of the oldschool games he plays, so I can relate to the frustrating and stupid elements of some of the games. And sometimes it's funny to see something pointed out about my favorite games that I hadn't even noticed before. Even when he's reviewing a game I've never heard of, it's interesting to learn something new and be entertained simultaneously.

I have to agree that the Nerd can't just cuss randomly to make a good episode, but he doesn't. Sure the oblagitory rant every so often is fun, but I like when he actually points out something so bad it leaves him speechless. The face he makes is funny enough, haha.

How does that conflict with my age? I used "or so" because I'm not sure, but it was around that time. I couldn't remember when I started watching, so I looked up when it originally was made. According to Wikipedia, AVGN started in around 2004 and I started high school in 2006--ergo, middle school.

AVGN wasn't publicly known until 2006 when he posted them on Youtube, so unless you were one of James' close personal friends whom he showed the original VHS recordings, then I doubt you saw AVGN in 2004.

avgn movie would suck dick yo. the only good thing about his show is when hes actually playing the games & talking about it/background info about it. his character is okay, but his stupid little sketches he does sometimes are barely tolerable within the show, and i know he thinks theyre so fucking hilariously great that he would make the movie mostly sketches.
