I can't stand them either. When shit doesn't involve you, you don't need to go and rat about because it is absolutely none of your business. People need to learn that if you stick your nose where it doesn't belong, you'll lose it.

The kid who snitched was just concerned for your safety and found it easier to tell the teacher. The teacher punished you instead of giving a warning most likely because if an accident happened, (s)he would get fired and/or maybe even get a massive fine and/or jail time. And let's not kid ourselves, we know warnings don't do jack against teenagers. Even if you 'forgot' to wear the ear buds, that's still your fault for being careless with your safety. When the kid asked you why you are mad, he was trolling the crap out of you, and it worked.
And to say that you'd go out of your way to prevent somebody from saving his life over him indirectly getting you into lunch detention means you're a humongous crybaby.
