I get banned sometimes, but only for posting in spam threads. I hate that rule, since I don't know what the mods define as a spam thread. This is why I just avoid threads that have any hint of being controversial in them.

Yeah this is what has gotten me banned the most before too. Its a bit too strict to be honest.

If you're a moron and you don't follow the rules, which are pretty damn lenient compared with a lot of much shittier forums, you get banned. I honestly don't get banned often at all. When I do it's for unknowingly posting in a spam thread with a stupid remark, but that shit happens.

A few times for me. At least one was automatic; I posted in a spam thread and got banned along with everybody else.
The others were probably due to insulting people, something like that.

You're still pretty new here. Give it time - soon you'll get lazy and relaxed, and then you'll slip up. The mods will be there, hammers ready.

I've been banned so many times. Mostly for posting in spam threads and "fueling the flames".

i don't think you can get yourself banned that easily if you observe the rules and not being a complete dick, or irritate the mods.

well, at least i have never been banned before on the BBS, despite numerous occasions where i intentionally went off topic, and tried to be rude to the OP. you have to do something very wrong to achieve this feat.

At first its common but the rules are pretty much common sense and after a bit of time and if your smart enough you stop getting banned a lot.

Some moderators like Jamoke and BBR (?) have been demodded for not doing their job properly though

Also, when I get banned it's usually for:
a.) Posting in a spam thread
Or
b.) calling someone a certain six letter word you aren't supposed to call people on this BBS.

I can't really say from personal experience (as I haven't been banned), but I'd assume that the more you post, the more likely you'd get banned.

Being banned is pretty uncommon for me. I think I got banned 4 times, which is not that much for making over 10.000 posts. You will soon develop a feeling for it, if a thread could turn into a spam thread or not. If you feel bad when you hover your cursor over the "post reply" button then don't post in the thread.

I've been banned for posting in spam threads, and this one time I posted a topic twice because I thought the first one didn't post. Haven't been banned in a while though. Might not ever get banned again since I pretty much know how not to get banned.

There are probably more BBS users that have been banned than there are who haven't.

I broke almost every rule, and have been banned for each time. They literally watch me like a hawk, even when they're sleeping I can't catch a break.

I'm on 6 I think, although one was by request and one was because I wanted to see if I'd get banned, so deliberately broke the rules.
The others are from posting in spam topics or posting "I don't care" or something similar, but I've never done anything too bad.

All them I never complained since I deserved it. Except one because I did a rape joke. I'm not going to mention the Mod who did it, but let's just say he's long gone from the BBS and he's a politically correct twat.

I haven't been banned so far but then again, I have very few posts and I don't post all that often.

I think it depends on the person. Some people are just constant re-offenders and bans don't seem to bother them. So for some it is and some it isn't.

Once, posting in a spam thread. Not that I knew it was. And the ban was only for like 12 hours, so no big deal really.

Lots of people get hit with a one-day ban for posting in a borderline spammy thread.

Here's a tip: If the other people in the thread are mostly making shitty posts as well, avoid posting in the thread. Even if your post is good, some of the collateral banning may wash over onto you.

Incidentally, I was banned once in 2007 for posting in a spam thread. HAPPENS TO EVERYONE.

I've been banned maybe twice, if I remember right.

First reason was that I posted same thread after my original was locked and second was that I replied to discussion that was against the rules, yeah I think I made some flame on it and got banned because of that, not sure though.

therefore I haven't got banned here. also, IMO this website is less strict compared to others...

I don't quite think I've ever been banned. And I've been browsing since 2005.
