Your "source" says he just made a threat, and didn't actually bring it in.

I asked a friend of mine, who's brother also goes to the school, if he knew what happened, and he said no, but his brother said he saw the kid with the gun, as did some other kids saw him

Well, it is understandable that they arrested him. Even when it was a threat, that is still enough to take action to make sure that nothing serious happens. It is better to do everything to prevent a possible massacre.

Well all the students tend to be warned not to bring weapons to school, they knew better. On the other hand, I remember in middle school a kid got expelled for bringing a paper cutout of a handgun.

You know, it's this type of blind following of the rules that boggles my mind. Rules, particularly in school, should be there for protection, not for punishment, or as a means to every end. It's just bizarre that in today's world a lot of people can look on a situation like that and actually believe it's normal. As if a paper cut of a handgun could actually kill people, or even somehow encourage another kid to bring an actual handgun.

That's called "thoughtcrime". And where would you draw the line?

Read your source before you post, eh? Anyway, I once brought a hand grenade to school for 'show and tell', back when I was about nine. It was deactivated and I even told the teachers that, but they still confiscated it and phoned my parents.

From that moment on I hated authority.

guns don't belong in schools....and to those making fun of gun owners, they can f*ck off for all i care. i have no buisness with what they do so they should have none in mine when i am not in a public place. firearms on my property where i have plenty of land to shoot isn't an issue, school is an issue.

Actually bringing a gun to school or perhaps even threatening to do so when you have a history of violence and actually own a gun is one thing, but the "safety laws" in schools are ridiculous. I remember I was in kindergarten when 9/11 happened and the dumb bitches the school administrators and staff are got so paranoid as to calling parents for pretending to shoot each other. Then one time in 5th grade I was just minding my own business doodling on the back of a paper and then the teacher comes over and sees that there was a gun or knife or bomb or something in one of them (tons of kids did this but I was the unlucky one) and she fuckin freaks out and I get sent down to the principal where I wait there for over an hour and then go and speak to what I think was the school's councilor who really didn't fucking understand it was supposed to be a funny drawing. She calls my mom who just laughs about it and I haven't heard a thing about it since.

Mmmm but anyways, in this case I'd probably say it's justified.
