I am atheist.
They are a very religious family, and want me to read the bible, but that just turned me even more atheist, like from agnostic to atheist seeing how God acted.
As well as that, they would probably shun me.
help?

It's best not to make your lack of belief known to your family until you've moved out and have a steady income...
Religious parents have an inclination to kick their children out of the house upon finding out that they are atheist/agnostic/believe in some other religion.

go along with them for the sake of family cohesion
your personal beliefs shouldn't interfere with your entire family's well-being

I think god made man and animals on the sixth day, if he did wouldnt dinosaurs have eaten Adam and Eve?

Do they need to know? Is this something that needs to be said, to cause friction in the family and pretty much alienate yourself? Just go along with their little rituals, no-ones judging yah.

Wouldn't have Adam and Eve never existed, and humans come later?

Tell them to stop being such ignorant people, which their god would be disappointed with.

You need to focus on coming out to them first.

Don't.
It doesn't matter whether you're a saint or a satan, your parents will forever see you as a godless heathen from then on.

It depends on how religious your family is. I told my parents I was Atheist, and they were upset with me, but they didn't do anything too drastic.
Just keep it to yourself, theres no point saying you're an atheist if it's just going to cause fuss.

This might sound unorthodox but there is a simple solution to this, something you can instill in your mind while you live with your family. I think it works well for people who face these problems...
Pretend you are a Theist.

Just don't tell them. Some things are better not said.
It's like telling your parents you do weed. They will overreact if they know, and it will only cause problems for the both of you (mostly you).

That's a pretty broad and incorrect assumption. Not all religious parents will immediately think "BANISH THIS HEATHEN", really only the extremists will. Just because a parent of is some religious descent doesn't mean they will have the inclination to disown their children.
And for the OP, just tell them. If they do act like Jedi-Master so broadly predicted they will, it's not worth it to deal with them. I highly doubt they are that extremist though. Just talk to them.

You can be religious to some extent and not follow the bible as written law.
I am athiest/agnostic and I find some of the morals and stories in the bible as something to live by or atleast are worthy of acknowledgement... just don't go the 100% and keep your mouth shut and you'll be fine.

You should probably start slowly by asking them questions about the Bible and such as if you're curious, and then later as if you've become skeptic about the whole thing. By doing hat you can slowly start to show that you don't believe in the same things as them.
They may be more understanding if you do that instead of just suddenly saying "lol u guys are wrong god isn't real".

Try not to bring up religion, or change the subject when it gets to it. If they're REALLY pushing it and pushing it hard on you, tell them to back off because you're simply not interested. If they love you, they'll respect your wishes and differences in opinion.
In short; be straight up honest with them. "This kind of stuff simply isn't for me. The teachings and lessons are awesome, but religion does more harm than good, in my opinion."
"I sail through a golden nexus. By tanks with armor that glisten. I watch and I play with creations, and what I'm not reading, I listen." <-

After I read the bible I became even more agnostic than I was before, cause the supported my initial theories about God being a great parent of the human race, not a nanny for each and every one of us.
The bible made him look like someone that could possibly be a superior creature to our race who has been teaching us how to act by sometimes acting wrong himself to show the consequences.
I don't believe in him as a bearded man, but I think the great bearded man is just for us to picture him as a wise person, old people being wise due to their experience often, it's also great how you can choose not to take the bible completely literally, you could approach it from a more scientific/figurative angle, and it all starts making even more possible sense, which I'm not going to explain due to my superior laziness and laziness to respond to possible flamers.
I like thinking in both ways because it leaves a lot of room for imagination, it gives you food for thought in every conversation instead of just in half of them.

If you don't feel you're ready to tell them, don't tell them!
Just wait until you don't give a damn, then it won't matter anyway!
