You're not "edgy", you're obviously trying to act controversial to appear that way, and it's not working.

Where I work I make a base pay of $6.00 an hour, $1.25 less then federal minimum wage. I do though average about $15 an hour on a good day of sales though. On a bad day, about $12 an hour, and on a great day $20+ an hour.
Black Friday is about $50 an hour. :P
Just wanted to post here to inform you guys that even though minimum wage is a meager $7.25/hr (varies where you live), as a waiter I made $2.33/hr before tips.
Tips are not guaranteed, and I always tried to do the best job I could. Even when customers are rude people, you just have to kill them with kindness. Be nice, and always be prompt in giving them refills and other things they may need.
The customer can tip you whatever they want, so just be glad they give you ANYTHING at all, even if you think you "deserve more". It's up to them to tip you, and whining about it isn't going to magically make your tips better--all you can do is work better and be charismatic.
You just gotta...

One more thing: If you want bigger tips, sell more items! Suggestively "upsell" some appetizers, desserts, drink specials, etc.
Be knowledgeable about your menu and specials, and be polite. There's nothing much else you can do. I find that the older crowd (60+) doesn't really tip that well in general, despite having extensive conversations and giving them good service.
You didn't get the tip you wanted? See above picture.

Why don't you get it through your thick fucking head that you don't need to care what other people think and you don't have to tip people if you don't want to
Why don't you get it through your head that they are not the only places getting shitty pay, and it should not be up to the consumer to directly pay for the employee.

And if you didn't get tipped at all the place you work would have to pay you minimum wage.

I was gonna ask a question or two considering I've had friends and family members who were waiters/waitresses at once point (although I didn't question them much about it), but now...
Yeah, thanks for ruining a potentially good thread there Racist.
Why do you feel so entitled to not give them tips?

I don't get tips, I get comission.
Anyway, yes, during any pay period that you don't at least make minimum wage your paid a temporary minimum wage that comes back out of your pay check as soon as you start making more than minimum wage again.

I'm sorry, was asking a question relating to waiters not what this thread is about?

Fixed for you, champ.
Don't try to have an argument with RacistBassist, he's always right. In his head, that is.

If you notice something about these threads, there is a very niche minority that actually does any actual flaming, and it's more of a bunch of people quoting half-truths and not knowing how the laws work and they cannot come up with any real answer.

A minority you seem to be part of.

Oh please, asking a question for which the answer, for you, is a foregone conclusion is hardly one someone can come up with a "real" answer for.
"Why do waiters feel entitled to tips?" is not a legitimate question. It is, at the most, passive-aggressive as fuck, though, so congratulations.

Unless you count non-PG words as flaming, then I'm usually not the one doing it.

Would you like it better if I asked why they feel they always deserve a tip? It is a very legitimate question, and if people can't answer it without using half-truths then it says a lot about their sense of entitlement

4 star is only fancy to the poor. 5 star is where it's at. 15,000$ tip or GTFO.

Give an example or two of these answers and half-truths, then.

Mentioning the direct wages without the part that without tips it gets booted up to minimum.

Its only rape if you say no.
Say no to rape.
Ever had one of those guys that just wanted everything just right? You bring him a meal and then like he responds "This isn't what I ordered". You bring him a second meal and he says the same thing. You know, people you just want to punch them in the face.

You mean to tell me, that when people spend money on something, they want it up to their standards?!

That's different then people wanting food differently.
Fun story, last night the waiter got annoyed because someone in our group asked where there whatever fucking appetizer they got was.

Sounds hilarious.
Actually, most of RacistBassist's arguments are solid. It's just that they're cruel lol. Cruel but true.
