Halloween Spookfest and Broadcast Sep. 30th, 2011 @ 11:50 AM Reply

Starting at 2pm EST we will be BROADCASTING LIVE so come chat! We'll watch entries from the Epic Fall animation contest and checking out what else we may have missed this week.

Time is running out to help fund Anusboy the movie! Just $1 gets your name in the credits, but why not go bigger and get an MSPaint drawing of yourself by W-P-S, or a DVD of the film!

Our Halloween Spookfest encompasses the entire month of October and involves movies, games, music, art and literature.

The theme: Anything horror or Halloween related. Characters should preferably be original and the music MUST be used with approval (Audio Portal preferred). Aim for SCARY or FUNNY with your submissions.

Game and movie submissions should feature our Halloween Preloader or at least the logo and contain a link to our Halloween 2011 collection! Tag your submission with "halloween2011" and "halloween" please.

Movie Prizes
1st - $1000
2nd - $750
3rd - $500
4th - $250
5-10th - $100 each

Game Prizes (may change based on results)
1st - $250, 2nd - $150, 3rd - $100

Music Contest Thread
Music Prizes: 1st - $100, 2nd - $60, 3rd - $30

Art Contest Thread
Art Prizes: 1st - $100, 2nd - $60, 3rd - $30

Writing Contest Thread
Lit Prizes: 1st - $100, 2nd - $60, 3rd - $30

The best movies will have the opportunity to be featured on our new Roku channel, where a Halloween Spooktacular showcase is currently available.

Tomorrow kicks off October and the Spookfest as well as MONTHLY VOTING! Check your account page to see if you're in the pool for selecting the Best of September. Madness Day winners will be announced next week.

What if we used audio portal music, and asked the musician if we could use their music months back but didn't get a response, is that ok?

Also tag are we supposed to use for halloween submissions?

Lastly, and you please include a link to the newgrounds halloween preloader?

Tom is asking you to use Audio portal music. If it's in the portal, you can use it, just accredit it in the music credits section.

Games get more ad revenue, plus they are also easier to get sponsored by third party websites like that one website that starts with a k and ends in a "ongregate"...

I updated the original post to address these questions. YES you can upload any time in October and you SHOULD tag your submission with "halloween" and "halloween2011". You should also feature our Halloween preloader and a link to the Halloween collection (see main post for links).

October 31st. It's better to be at least a few days ahead though because the public enjoys Halloween stuff before Halloween and then loses interest the day after.

We should totally have another Carve N' Share competition like last year, and put the "game" somewhere on the front page. That "game" was too ridiculously addicting to forget, and has grown on me like a weed. ._ . I'll probably end up coming back to it every Halloween season. FER THE REST OF MY LIAF.

I personally think it could become some kind of Newgrounds tradition, and like last year, a decent side competition along with the already existing IRL pumpkin carving competition.

Anybody else think so too?

Just a starving artist. Nothing new.
