4.09 / 5.00 12,195 ViewsBack in June we asked for your help testing Pipeline, our free, open-source software for organizing collabs. You had awesome feedback and we've spent the past few months on a major overhaul. We think this new version of Pipeline is the best one yet, and once again, we're looking for beta testers.
This time, we're testing Pipeline by organizing a collab. Anyone can join, and two members will win a $50 prize each. Details are below.
Theme:
It's Halloween night and your doorbell rings. You open it. Standing in front of you is a familiar face -- it's one of candidates for the upcoming US presidential election. (e.g. Barack Obama, Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, etc.) Except something's different. Oh, right -- they're completely decked out in their Halloween costume.
You decide...
- which presidential candidate (declared candidates and/or people threatening to run)
- what's their costume
- what they do/say and what's the reaction
Prizes:
- two $50 prizes (winner's choice: NG store credit or Amazon.com gift cards)
- one prize for Best Contribution (judged by us)
- one prize for Most Helpful (judged by us)
- the same person can't win both prizes
Deadline:
- one week (due Friday, Oct. 7)
Rules:
- keep it PG-rated
- multiple submissions allowed
- we'll include as many good submissions as possible (low quality submissions won't be included)
- you must use Pipeline during the collab
Specs:
- max length: 60 sec each
- dimensions: 550x400 (standard)
- background: white
- music, sound fx, dialog encouraged
- break your fonts
Hosting:
- the final movie will be submitted to Newgrounds
- the organizers, contest winners, and authors of the best submissions will be co-authored
- any $$$ from awards or ads will be given away as prize money in future testing/contests
Organizers:
- I'm a PhD student in human-centered computing at Georgia Tech. Pipeline is my dissertation project. I was also a Newgrounds intern in 2009.
- Casey is also a PhD student in the same program. Her work looks at remixing and online fan communities.

Oooh! Sounds cool!!! ...but do they *have* to be animated? or can it just be the person standing there in a costume? 'cuz I'm sure you could get some of the art forum regulars to join in.
I was wondering what happened to you! ...nice to see you back!! :D

Hi Nae, we would be thrilled to have Art Forum folks in on this! Animation is not required.
Unfortunately we weren't able to transfer user accounts from the previous Pipeline so you will have to create a new account. Sorry for the trouble.

If you could that would be great! I think it would be more convincing coming from an actual regular. :)
