beginner animator needs help!

Hey guys I know you probably get this kind of question on here every day but I will shoot anyways.

So I am just now trying to learn how to animate so i torrented the reccomdended program which was adobe flash professional cs5.5

So my main issue is....after watching so many tutorials it still seems so difficult to get anything to work i tried making a stick figure to just do a simple walk across the screen but idk it didnt work so im like frustrated. I'd appreciate any help you guys could have or input. Obviously this isnt some kind of 2 day learning task but i just want to know how to get the basics of animated down.

For starters, you should probably read the rules of the bbs so you don't get yourself banned ;)

As far as learning how to animate... it takes a LOT of time and practice. You could try checking the wiki for some helpful info and links.

You can also upload stuff to your dump and post the link here so people can give you pointers and suggestions based on where you're at.

Otherwise... just keep watching tutorials (there are a ton out there) ...and practice, practice practice!

But thank you very much I'm about to practice everyday on animating because ive been watching new ground videos since 2002 and just now decided I wanted to animate my own flash videos.

Try first with something simple...

Like... a frame-by-frame animation.
Draw a dude, insert a keyframe, and draw the dude again, and so on!

After that, you could learn about motion-tweens.

FAST MOTION-TWEEN TUTORIAL:
1) Draw a bird
2) Select the bird (use selection tool)
3) Rightclick > Convert to symbol
4) Choose "Graphic"
5) Double-click this bird-graphic thing
6) Insert some keyframes and make it move the wings up and down (frame by frame animation)
7) Go to the stage by double-click somewhere else at the stage
8) Insert some frames, select the Graphic, and right-click, and chose "create a motion tween"
9) Go to the last frame and move the bird foreward
10) IT'S DONE!
