You're not alone.

To me this show has nothing to do with gender stereotypes nor a doctrine of "love and tolerance solves every problem".

This show is entertaining, and the characters are adorable in the way a guy can watch kittens play with a box, or chase a flashlight.

The people who Preach "love and tolerance" crap are over simplifying the issue. in any given public issue, like poverty, or hunger their are lots of geopolitics, social, and economic factors involved. if solving them that simple, then the world would be a perfect place.

The people who attribute our behavior as some revolt against gender stereotypes are just trying to use our community as a proof for their pet causes and theses.

It IS possible for people to consciously choose to like something. the problem with attribution theory is the assumption that all behavior has some deep emotional foundation. the other problem is all the bias on the hand of the observer.

I'm feeling you there, I'm hating the overabundance of stupid people who try to be "cute."
I'll still watch it, but I won't sympathize with most other fans. And sorry to anyone else, but furries just irk the shit out of me, so I won't care if you slapped a "brony" title on you. I won't like you just easily.

Cool your jets, Cranky Doodle. It's a brony thing if anything you don't have to embrace it if you don't consider yourself that kind of mlp fan. I'm a better person because of the whole "love and tolerance" pitch and I think the community's onto something with that, so honestly I don't get why you must actively discredit us about it just because you disagree. Looks like you could use a good dose of that "love and tolerance" crap, if ya ask me...

Loosen up a bit, pal. It's just a kid's show :\

Very much this. Funny how some people (no one in this club thankfully) try to over-analyze the show and put their spin on it of what they think it is about and such. I can tolerate most things anyways but I suppose it;s something you grow use to doing over the years.

Also, another flash by MisterDavey uploaded here? Brilliant!

"better" in what sense? you can't just say you are "better", to be better you must define the context of better. Better in terms of what?

Does being selfless really make you a "better" person, or do you simply do it to feel better about yourself? I recommend reading into Nietzsche's views on pity. Also, this idea of love and tolerance is nothing new.

I'd say better in terms of being more accepting, being more open to being openminded about perceived faults and differences of others.

Does being selfless really make you a "better" person, or do you simply do it to feel better about yourself? I recommend reading into Nietzsche's views on pity. Also, this idea of love and tolerance is nothing new.

I never said it was new, but I suppose the presentation of it is what really got to me. Also, there is no practical use to me in trying to differentiate between the practice of being a better person and consequently feeling better about myself, so long as the deed is done and they're better off than they were. Who says I can't do it for both? I'm no philosopher, that I'll admit, nor I don't have any vested interest in exploring the field. I'm a simple person, but don't assume that means I'm simpleminded. As for your suggested reading, I'll have to politely decline, as I harbor an enduring aversion for reading. I don't necessarily hate it, but I generally don't enjoy doing it and I wind up falling asleep from boredom anyways.

I'm not discrediting you, I'm just stating my disagreements, and criticisms of your ideas, and claims.

There are more appreciable and respectable ways of criticizing than using terms like "crap" to describe the ethos of other people, which implies that you were indeed trying to belittle it. If you're going to be critical, don't shoot yourself in the foot in front of open minded folks by making yourself sound biased.

I am calm, and I never said I hated, or didn't like any of you. ;P

I just wish you tried to be more likeable. The way I've seen you carry yourself around this thread makes it difficult to enjoy your presence. Then again, that doesn't make you obligated to do so, but I'd rather like people than not.

To be fair I shouldn't of used "crap", I didn't mean to come off as belittling it, I'm just laid back how I post.

EQD now has my approval. Also, lovin' grunge Cheerilee to the left.

If I'm not mistaken, that's her back when she was in college, mostly because that's part of the image used for the fanfic "Choices", which is about her, Lyra, and Derpy being in college, and also has a few (and growing) references to the '90s.

I run a Skype chat, if anyone is interested in joining, go ahead and add me on Skype, my name is on my page. There are rules to the chat. Here are rules 3-3.8 for you guys to see.

Rule number 3: Rainbow Dash is BEST PONY
This rule, as well as rule 1, needs no further explanation. Rainbow Dash is the best pony. Period. The End. No questions asked or else fag.

Rule number 3.5: If you disagree with rule number 3 for any reason, your opinion is WRONG
Yes. It is possible to have a wrong opinion. In which case, it is thinking that Rainbow Dash isnâEUTMt the best pony, or the one of the greatest beings in the universe for that matter.

Rule number 3.8:Fluttershy's name is a bannable offense unless used INSULTINGLY
Fluttershy (according to Solidtoad) is a horrible piece of shit as a pony, and shall therefore be used insultingly, or as a butt of a funny joke. Other use of this ponyâEUTMs name is a four letter word, in this chat, and is highly condemned.

Any disobedience of these rules or other rules in the chat results in a ban from me lasting anywhere between 5 seconds and 100 years. The alternative punishment is having your dick bitten off by Stamper.

I thought that was a terrible idea and not in a million years.
Then I remembered I was already a part of it.

I've been gone for two and a half days.

Scrolls thru posts.

Seems quite standard...

Hello again everyone. Also, for the first time since getting it, i wore my fluttershy t-shirt out in public. One guy said "cool shirt." Another came up to me and brohoofed me. He was wearing a pony shirt as well. Shit was awesome.

Haha, right on man! I met someone about a week ago in an airsoft store wearing a Rainbow Dash shirt, he saw my Derpy shirt and complemented me on it. We brohoof'd and became quick friends :)

Unless they are super creepy. But then again, I wouldn't really expect them to be in public much.

I'd rather not meet a creepy brony. I played pool a lot with one last semester during college. He was a pretty cool guy anyways, had Rainbow Dash shirts and that was about the only character he truly liked too.

I think there was a tree on that grassy knoll... :P

anyways, there will always be crazy theories. anyone foolish enough to blindly accept it without any doubt whatsoever will make themselves ignorant.

Fellow Bronies I have a question. It's about a friend who may or may not be a brony.

He has watched MLP FiM in the past I and was someone who introduced me into it by him. I recently became a bigger brony, sharing the show with others who were unfamiliar with it, and made 2 animations about ponies as well. Right now, I can't even tell if my friend is a brony anymore, he claims he still is, but does not watch the show anymore. Anytime when he has the chance to (which is probably anytime), he doesn't watch it, and even when i'm at his house, he doesn't want to watch it. He claims "he doesn't want to right now, i will later." Now given that I can't monitor him constantly because of the fact that that would be creepy, i highly doubt he even watches the show anymore.

What do you think Bronies, do you think someone who doesn't want to watch the show anymore is still technically a brony? Being a fan of the community can't really make you a brony in case you didn't know, as all bronies rise from the show to the communities.

They have. In Owl's Well That Ends Well the owl book Spike has has a stylized owl logo on the front similar to what the Bohemian Groove uses, which had members of the tin foil hat brigade creaming in their jeans, including asking Lauren about it on her DA page.

I just use the term "brony" to designate someone who likes things MLP:FiM related. If they watch the show or not is optional. If he has decided that he no longer enjoys anything MLP:FiM related, he is no longer a brony.

I think that since he watched the show and became a brony, he would still be one, but that's just me. I became a brony after watching the show, but gradually I drifted away from watching the newer episodes, which is why I'm not really up to date on everything pony-related (although I can't help but think that I really should be). I think the reason behind this may be that some of the stuff the fanbase spews out can sometimes be a little better than the show itself.

I avoid all brony word stuff.

If some one is a fan of this, they are a fan of FiM, if not, they are not. their is no need for some special title, and although our enjoyment of the show has nothing to do with memes, the term "brony" is generally associated with them. Then you get groups that want another special word to define them like "pegasister" which to me just sounds retarded.

It's just not worth it.

I very much agree with this statement. While I don't mind the term "brony" or "pegasister" I don't see why some fandoms need an overly specific name for the fans. Although I can see the fun in it.

If you could obliterate any pony from the show forever, and make it so that any instances of them were erased in previous episodes, who would you get rid of?
