When it comes to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the first season brought me in and showed me that a show based off of this could be good if handled with care and taken seriously by its creators... remember this is a series based off of a line of toys, all it is supposed to mainly be is nothing more than a cash grab. However it had time and effort put into it, by those who worked on cartoons in different eras. It was amazing to see.
The artwork was cute, but beautiful at the same time. The animation was breathtakingly amazing. The characters were fleshed out and have developed overtime. The stories in each episode although morals at the end are fun. The journey is half of the fun and at times was most of the fun. It was innocent while at the same time had subtle jokes that even adults could enjoy. However out of all of it, the songs that are written for the show are what I believe to be the most amazing parts of the show. I'm not talking about Pinkie Pie's bursting into song, I mean songs written specifically for an episode. My favorite being "Winter Wrap-Up" and the one that I believe to be the best song is that of "At the Gala".
Then season 2 came and I have to admit, it truly has been better than that of season 1. The characters have developed even more than before. The songs are even better. The animation has even gotten better which stunned me, especially "Read It and Weep".
This season is coming to a close, with season 3 already approved. My only question is, how can things get any better? I mean season 2 surpasses season 1 (at least in my opinion) so I don't know how they will be able to top season 2. Especially since most cartoons tend to lose their ways and thus tend to get worse as they go and either burn out or fade away. I can only hope that this one fades away with a grand finale, but that is far off from now at this point.
It seems though as I have been looking through this thread that some users tend to love the fan aspects of the show more than the show itself, I don't know if that's completely true, I know it's not because I've spoken with other bronies on and off about the show and have had wonderful discussions about it, but that seems to deteriorate here in this crew.
Now I love the fan stuff as much as the next person, but it seems it is overshadowing the show itself which is a wonderful show.
