While we're discussing Jon Huntsman, speaking of obscure candidates, there's a potential dark horse running for the Republican nomination, Gary Johnson.
Johnson is a bit odd as a Republican: pro-choice, supports legalization of marijuana, generally a social libertarian, and is more sympathetic with illegal immigrants than most Republicans are. He does support lower taxes and is a fiscal conservative though. Johnson also impressed me in the debate last night, even with the crummy shovel-ready joke.
What's your take on this guy? I don't agree with him on all the issues but this guy is sane, to me.

by reading what you said ( if it's true) he sounds pretty reasonable. most liberals/ conservatives seem to have really weird views and try to say how they will be effective in certain issues. ( idk how them getting more power and lining their pockets with cash helps anyone considering thats all they care about...)

If Gary had the same kind of base that Ron Paul had, he would make a great candidate. And If Paul does not win the nomination and Obama wins the election, [both of which i expect to happen independently of one another] Then I hope Johnson runs again.
In a certain respect, he's the most qualified for the job. a 2 Term governor who is actually popular with his constituents, who managed to keep the budget in fairly good order without having to shoot every 'moderate' representative in the state legislature; something i usually consider politically impossible.
On a moving train there are no centrists, only radicals and reactionaries.

Yeah, that's the case if you're all about cop-outs and defeatism. More inclined to act like you're predicting something. That is what matters most. Activism

He really does sound like my kind of candidate, but the main problem is that he's probably not going to to get too much of the typical Republican vote beyond the libertarian sector. Johnson is also a moderate, which could work well trying to bridge the gap between the Democrats and the more conservative Republican base, although I have my doubts on that happening anytime soon.
With that said, if by some miracle that he does get elected president, then it would be interesting if he can actually do what he promises, and not let it be a bunch of campaign talk, trying to stir up votes from the libertarian and moderate voters. Considering that he sounds and looks much more sane compared to the rest of the field does give him a puncher's chance, but he'll be well behind Perry, Romney and possibly Bachmann for the ticket, which is a shame.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.
