The doppelganger alt

I have received several PMs from multiple Newgrounds regulars regarding certain incidents which seem to carry no rational explanation. In my ongoing communications these individuals have independently confirmed these anecdotes to a reasonable degree of certainty. Their stories all seem to match to a high degree of consistency.

"James" is what we will call the most important informant. James has had the most in depth experience with these phenomena, and wishes to remain anonymous for several reasons which may become more apparent as you read on. James and all other informants have made claims of the existence of a stalker within the site of Newgrounds, which they call the "doppelganger alt". The doppelganger alt appears to be some kind of hacker that focuses specifically on breaking into the alt accounts of users on NG and compromising their integrity. James has confirmed that the doppelganger only appears to hack into the accounts of users that are online at midnight, for whatever reason that may be, I do not know.

All sources have confirmed that when doppelganger is attacking you, the "users online" will display not only you, but your alt account as online. Again, James is the most important informant because he has observed more of the doppelganger's activities than any of the other informants. Once, when he saw his alt logged in, he had the "luck" to see the alt post in a locked thread in the forgotten bowels of the BBS, without bumping it. His alt repeatedly posted "Please kill me." "Please kill me." "Please kill me." over a period of five minutes or so. James has described the chills that ran down his back and mentioned an inability to sleep that night. He says that at one point he thought he was hallucinating the whole incident, and he went through severe delirium trying to grasp the reality of the situation. Our circle of informants has a few web designers and people with relevant programming experience, but they all say it isn't feasible to post in a locked thread, even with a hell of a lot of hacking experience. The doppelganger is operating at an expert level of hacking, and with ease, too.

James and all others in our group have reported that doppelganger alt favorites flashes by Newgrounds members that are no longer living, such as the flash "Clown" by the user Regret- or Jeff Weise, who murdered nine people before committing suicide. When they logged into their alt account, it appeared that never happened. There is never any trace of the doppelganger's activities. James reports experiencing chronic pangs of anxiety when browsing NG, as if the entire site is now tainted for him. James tried to have his alt account deleted, but somehow his messages never reach the admins. Changing the password to your alt account does nothing to prevent this hacker from gaining access. Every night around midnight, the post count of their alts go up, and by a smaller amount each night. One clever informant with some background in mathematics calculated that following the current pattern of decrease, the post count seems to converge at 10k posts more than the victims' alts originally had, at which point we expect doppelganger will stop posting, as there is no such thing as a "half post". It was also conjectured that there is almost exactly one year until that milestone is achieved. We haven't been able to ascribe any significance to this cutoff point. We have no idea what will happen once the doppelganger stops posting.

We, as a group, advise that Newgrounders no longer browse at midnight. If you browse at midnight then you are allowing the possibility that you will be one of the doppelganger's hacking victims, because as I have said, he only hacks into the accounts of users that are online at midnight, for whatever reason. This time is better spent sleeping, anyways. I've started logging off NG at 11pm or earlier, just to be safe, and my life has actually benefited from the extra sleep. It's a win-win situation, really.

And if anyone gets their alt. account hacked, don't log back into it, inform Tom or Wade about it so they can ban the IP address from the Doppleganger Alt's computer, it probably won't work though.
