It's all down to opinion. You can't fault somebody for liking 'This Generation's' music, for many people, it's all they know. You're just gonna piss em off by hating. Chill, bro. Chill.

Oh my gosh! I just watched the latest "South Park" episode online and it featured the exact same complaints you were doing only even worse of course! Tell me, do you see people as giant pieces of shit or does everything literally sound like shit? Personally, I thought it sounded a lot more like farting when I heard it in the episode. Let us hope that you are not getting too old and learn to find some good modern stuff.

My dad hated the music I listened to in my teens, just as his father hated the music that his son listened to in his teens. Likely I'll hate the music any children I may have listen to.
Who's wrong? None of us. Who's right? None of us.
Its always the case that the older generation doesn't just get the newer one. For whatever reason. Usually with technology, music, clothes and slang.
Shitty indy bands seem mainstream today... That and watered down hip-hop,
10 years ago it was Nsync.
10 years before that it was MC Hammer.
10 years before that it was Abba..
Just how many generations do we have to go back to find good mainstream music?

Are you calling ABBA indie or hip-hop? Because either way you're completely off the mark.
there was shit music back then too.
Exactly, you've just got your nostalgia-googles on. Nobody's going to remember Justin Beiber or Miley Cyrus twenty years from now, but bands like Jane's Addiction are probably going to be around and kicking ass for at least another decade.
When dealing with media, you have to remember that 90% of the music in ANY era is shit, and guess what? Nobody cares about it after it stops making money, and it gets forgotten. Simple, predictable beats and lyrics about relationships/sex/money are what sells, but aren't good enough to keep around.

This has been done before so many times before, it's getting a little tedious right about now, seriously.
Yes, this generation's music isn't exactly that good at all, but at the same time, that's rather subjective because previous generations thought that the new music was horrible as well. For example:
1950s: kids listen to rock and roll, and the older generation thought it was the devil's music, and that more or less carried on through the 1960's.
1980s: Parents thought that hip-hop and rap music encourages criminal behavior among the normal youth. Although there is a negative byproduct of suburban kids trying to act all "gangsta" or whatever.
Go figure. When the next generation of kids start to grow up, and listen to the new music that their kids are listening to, I'm sure that they'll bitch and moan about how their generation had better music, and so on and so forth, it's a never ending cycle.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.
I was going out with this girl and before we went on a first date we texted eachother. She liked rap and i liked rock and metal. We broke up :)

And novelty songs from the Beatles'era, and before, weren't retarded?
