Good call. When you do, move the wolf and red over so they're not falling off the side. They're the main focal point, not the path or all the trees, right?

It's kind of hard to tell frm the back and white, but I don't know if her arm ends at the end of the arm, or if it is connected to a bit of body still. If the arm is the only piece with flesh on it, it shouldn't just end all neatly like that, as if it was cut, but instead look ravaged and torn at the end.

I am sure it was kinda hard to start over after you spend so much time on the first one, but you did the right thing, respect. This one is coming along great. I especially like the paw.

Jonny: I was kind of unsure how to go about making her look as mutilated as possible, but then I was thinking, If a werewolf really attacked someone, they would more than likely go for your organs, so I decided to only have her torso ripped open.

Wade: THANKS MAN! I am going to try and mimic the values of the shadowy looking version in hatching, which is gonna be especially hard since the trees start to fade out. You just blew my mind man.....

Luwano: I know dude, I have never started over on something I was working on, and believe me, I DID NOT want to start over on this one. I bit the bullet and did it anyway, and it looks like its payed of so far, I have a way more interesting composition.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, It really helps me out in the end.

The composition is much better on this version than the previous, since you've brought the wolf to the fore rather than off to the side.

I'm wondering if you're going to keep some contrast between the areas so that the edges of the objects can be identified, and not lost altogether. Like what Nae pointed out between the tree and the wolf's body in the previous pic. Also you want to use contrast to highlight the key areas of this pic; not just the wolf's face and Red Riding Hood, but Red's destroyed body and organs as well.

I've attached a simple pic to work out how you could sort out the various levels of the pic. Since you're doing it monochrome, and not grey scale, you'll have to be in total control with how much hatching you're applying.

Other thing's I've noticed: the strokes on the wolf's muscles on its left arm are so wide compared to other strokes in the pic. They either need reducing, or some other stroke's need widening.
Also the rear foot isn't located right for me; the angle the wolf is viewed from above (comparison of front and rear foot) is lower than the angle the forest is viewed from (comparison of log and roots of trees).

i like the detail. the dropped muffins would be a good example of this.

uhmm
the werewolves back leg looks kinda strange. also it's floating, so make sure it's grounded EVENTUALLY. i know that this is a WIP so you are probably aware.

im not sure what the dark spots are on the log. blood? if so then maybe add some drips to make it obvious to the viewer that it is blood.

but it looks good so far!!!
keep going!

Well. my initial thought is that I'm having trouble distinguishing the subject from the background.
Take ToaS's example He left the tone of the creature relatively untouched. but darkened the background a lot. And this is before you have done your hatching.
IS I would suggest getting the background a little more darker in terms of hatching. Specifically in areas around the werewolf.
Something else that requires some note. The back leg looks like it is hovering off the ground. Might want to look in to that,

the drips work : )

also check out the shading on the trees. she how it's going from dark to light (nothing wrong with that.)
but the tree closest to us, i.e. the one that should be the darkest, is drawn as the lightest.

you can make it black and frame the scene with it. so it'll still work, it just doesn't make any sense with the other rules youve given to the shadows on the trees.

Yeah, I totally see what you are saying. I was having trouble with the hatching on the background and getting the values just right.

Which leg do you speak of? the left? I tried to have him stretched out, as if he's reaching towards something. Maybe making the foot smaller would help?

The wolfs back leg. the only back leg visible.

I think I may have a simple fix though. Darken it a bit. Gradient it a little to look like it is really shooting back there in space.

Did a mock up.

I'm not happy with how the background came out, but I think it gets the point across,
As for the foot its a basic gradient with the multiply blend mode to the layer. Masked for the foot only obviously. You could either to it that way, or you could do it by way of the hatching.

Maybe try making the tree at the right a little darker? It drags too much attention to that area when you're supposed to focus on the two characters.
