Tamagotchis
Pokemon
Dragonball Z
Power Rangers
Walkmans and cassette players
Boy bands were big
Slang like "All that and a bag of chips"
Thats just to name a few. It all seems so long ago now, and I don't know why, but I kind of miss it.

That's cool that you like the 90s. Most people born during that time do. Learn to accept change.

i've been fond of some of the music from the 80s and I was ten years late. but ofcourse everything seemed better as a child because your little head would have imploded in itself because it was new at some point and you wouldn't know some of that was Shit until you were older.

Those razor scooters. I rode BMX and skateboarded and we all laughed at those kids on scooters.
Tamagotchis
I'm ashamed to admitt it but I had one.
Pokemon
I never got into this. Almost everyone played the card game and the nerdy kids watched the show. I did neither.
Dragonball Z
Watched it, but was in the closet about it.
Power Rangers
Watched it, but only for like one season when it was hugely popular. Even dressed as the red one for Halloween.
Walkmans and cassette players
Those fucking things went through batteries faster than a fat chick's vibrator.
Boy bands were big
That sucked.
Slang like "All that and a bag of chips"
was annoying.
But yeah, thanks for the trip down memory lane.

So you're saying it's not OK to like past times? The 90s were amazing, though. I loved the cartoons then as well.

I was born during it. I faintly remember some things such as...
MTV wasn't a place for stupid shows, just music videos.
Furbies (creeped me out back then)
PlayStation 1 (still have it actually, works great)
DreamCast
Walkman
FoxKids

I played with them in the 2000s
Pokemon
I watched it.
Dragonball Z
I watched that.
Power Rangers
yah. I didn't watch it. It was too young or too stupid for me.
Walkmans and cassette players
I don't remember people walking around with those. I remember videos and tapes still being used a lot though.
Boy bands were big
I was too young.
Slang like "All that and a bag of chips"
I was 3. I was still trying to work out the local slang because I'd been brought up properly.
Thats just to name a few. It all seems so long ago now, and I don't know why, but I kind of miss it.
I was early 2000s but I was born in the 90's. That all I think I remember from them. After the early 2000s my life went into it's dark ages that I don't remember well. I played the ps1 a lot.
???-2004?=dark ages, 2005?=atomic betty era, 2006=red dwarf era, 2007-2009=newgrounds era, 2009-on= anime era.
What have I done with my life?

Iiiiiin West Philadelphia, born and raised. On a playground is where i spent most of my days. Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin', all cool and all, shootin' some b-ball outside of the school. When a couple of guys, they were up to no good, started making trouble in the neighborhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared, she said, "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air!"
If you don't have that memorized, you can't really be considered a '90s kid!

The early 1990's was the last time music actually mattered. It still does in some small ways today, but nothing has ever been as meaningful as grunge. The media made it seem all depressive and jaded, but it was more than that. I think we all could appreciate it even more when it was dead, and boy bands and Britney Spears came into view.
Grunge mixed two things perfectly. Music with genuine attitude with a touch of that love song mentality from the 60's. Hear me out. grunge is basically if the beatles played punk rock. It's beautiful.
Now, it just seems like it's talking massive steps backwards. Nothing is real anymore, and the only ones who are half good are a copy of the truely good bands from the early 90's. Music today is more like the 80's. It's all show, and no heart. It's all about materialistic things, and rude sexual inuendos. The only thing women accomplished by becoming equals is acting like just as much of an asshole as men. They aren't the shy housewives anymore. They stick their pussy out for everyone to see with no shame. Hey bitch, is chivalry is dead, and you're my equal, and you want to start acting like someone I might get into a fight with at a rowdy bar with some dickweed guy, you better learn how to take a punch. Anyway, that was off topic, but not really. My point was women are just as bad as guys in music now. It's not just cock rock anymore. It's these sluts acting like total bitches, flipping off their fans, and being shitty people. Instead of being a bit more sensitive and poetic with the lyrics, a typical love song today is written about the girl or guy the musician fucked from the club last night. It's pathetic.

Considering that you seem to be such a fan of the days before mine, may I suggest to you this book? I believe you'd find it's oft-music-related chapters a good read, and that it would certainly help further your knowledge about the Darwinist slew that was the music industry at the time - both good and not so good sides - Oasis to Nirvana to The Prodigy to Aphex Twin and beyond.
I for one was pleasantly surprised that boy bands were even bigger back then than they are now, but I guess that's due to all the negative and positive media hype that is thrown upon them venomously nowadays. Is it really true that boy bands were all that big or is that just a misconception? I honestly don't remember anything from that age out of personal experience, but it's nice to have a slew of other users to inform you about it - preferably not nostalgiaing all over the topic and giving an unbiased account.

Nickelback was certainly a spark of hope when they first popped up with their debut album, but that spark quickly dissipated as it became obvious the lead singer had sold out completely.
That and the constant, annoying as fuck airplay. Jeebus, that melody to a song I wont mention directly will haunt me for the rest of my days.

If you want my opinion, Kurt Cobain was the last rock star. He made it obvious that he didn't want to be a rock star, and he was the biggest one of the decade, if not all time. How's that for a mind fuck? Regardless of whether or not you like his music, he definately made his mark. But now, since the biggest rockstar of all time hated every second of that distinction, who knows if there will ever be another. He made the very definition of a rock star change it's meaning. Those cock rock musicians singing about pussy look like the idiots by comparison because Kurt actually had some poetic lyrics, and he wrote brillant songs. He made it uncool to be a rock star in the traditional sense, is basically what I am trying to say, so now anyone who tries to copy that, is not going to be cool either.
On a different note, Cobain had a drug problem. He wasn't a role model. He made it uncool to be a rockstar in his own right I guess. Drugs are bad, m'kay? Kurt was basically a family man, with a wife and daughter, just doing something he loved. If it weren't for the drugs, we could all be enjoying more Nirvana songs. But, music, and life altogether became something he hated because suddenly he was the center of attention. Who wants to be the center of attention when they are completely fucked up all the time? I know from personal experience with marijuana that I don't like people around when I'm all stoned out. I like my privacy, not millions of people with millions of questions all taking my picture and trying to emulate me.
