Yes, the civil rights movement was a very dark time in American history. Thousands were openly murdered, with no justice to speak of. Fortunately, Jim Crow laws were eradicated. Thousands were tortured and murdered only a generation ago. But today, America has a black president. Astounding progress. It almost redeems the horrific crimes that America has committed in the past against black folk.
