Because most people automatically assume that if someone does not go to church that they don't believe in God. It's stupid. I've never been a fan of going to church, but my family intends that I go so i still go anyway. Still though, I would rather stay at home on a sunday rather than sit in a church for 3 hours struggling to stay awake.
I've Google'd this many times, but never got any good answers at all. So this is usually where I turn to New Grounds.

No it just means you don't like going to church. Simple as that
Atheism is the absence of belief in deities (gods).
Not going to a place of worship does not necessarily mean that a person doesn't believe in god.
I absolutely hate church but believe in god just in case. I follow all the morals led by the bible however, still I don't sloth (being lazy) or pride is a sin so I disagree on those.
Not goin to church = a (insert religion here) who doesn't practice religion socially.

Going to church is not a requirement to believe in a god, so no, not going to church doesn't automatically make you an atheist.
How about you just google what an athiest is.

I don't wanna say to much cause we will get banned anyways, I usually like to bump 3 year ol posts or troll to get banned its more fun. But I will say this. I don't know shit about the bible. I know jesus was killed noah had an arch that one dude did'nt have a bellybutton and I believe in god and consider myself a christan. A good one? No.

THINK* that....
Going to church doesn't make you a good Christian, the same way not going to church doesn't make you a bad one.
I don't like going to church. However, I still hold some Christian values because of my parents. That's why I refer to myself as an Agnostic Theist.

Irreligous, lapsed, nonobservant, lots of words for it. But not atheist.

No, you most certainly don't follow the moral laws of the bible. At least, I sure HOPE you don't, as that would be just awful.

No but it's good to go to church. We all need to develop a good relationship with the LORD.
Also chruch people are fake as hell. They put on their costumes at church and gossip on people who think differently then they do.
"oooh girl so-and-so ain't goin to church because he's too busy. Thats devil talk."
HOW BOUT MAYBE THE MAN IS TOO DAMN BUSY.!

Assumming some sort of "LORD" exists, there's no necessity of going to church whatsoever to build a relationship with them.
I know it's overused, but going to church makes you a Christian about as much as sitting in a garage makes you a car. If you learn the Bible and actually follow what it says, going to church shouldn't matter. It may be recommended if there's something you don't understand in the Bible.
I don't go to church, yet I still be a good Christian; lead by example, do good deeds, help others, treat others the way you want to be treated, etc.
And just so you anti-christian readers know, nowhere does it say to protest "God hates fags and soldiers and America" and bullshit like that. Those WBC dudes are just morons. Fucking moron extremists who misinterpret the teachings. Like Islam being labeled terrorist because of the minority group who goes to extremes.

That's typically only at black churches. I go to one though and you wouldn't believe how much that happens.

Nah you need to respect the Lord. Rebuke the devil, and apologize for your sins lol.
not going to church doesn't make you an atheist the same way going to church doesn't stops you from being one
Why on earth would not going to church make you an atheist? There are plenty of self proclaimed Christians who don't go to church regularly.
Atheism means you don't believe God is real. It's determined entirely by your thoughts. Not your actions.
Of course not, even when I was like 8 and christian I didn't go to church, and now I'm actually athiest, why? Because fuck you.
I am a Christian and I don't go to church. So no it doesn't make you an atheist. You believe in our lord and savior Jesus Christ and you believe in God, so how you decide to worship him is up to you. You do not have to go to a church if you do not wish, I stopped going because it is hard to find one with a preacher who doesn't preach just to push forward his own opinions and values onto others in the form of an agenda.
The church is supposed to be about the bible and worshiping the lord, not a place where a priest or preacher can use religion as a tool to spread his political opinion or twist the words of the bible to put you into fear over your own moral code.
I am an atheist, but ive been to church on numerous occasions.
in fact earlier this year i went to church with my family to celebrate my niece and cousin being baptized, i didn't pray or even pay attention, instead i opted to listen to my ipod for most of the experience.
I went to church because i love my family and didn't want to bring them down on what they consider a big day.
a few months later we went to a different church to celebrate my cousins communion, whilst there i admired the attractive teens who were more then likely forced to come as they looked bitter.
later on the priest said something about atheists being evil and immoral because they dont believe in god (as this was an insult, i tried to ignore him and go back to my music)
that being said churches do seem like decent social places, in fact there is a thing called youth in my location where religious teens come together and party or something along the lines of social fun.
Does all this make me want to become a catholic again? of course not!
i am what i choose to be, and not by where i choose to go.
church is just a building where religious people get together and discuss religious things. which is fine, if anything im happy you enjoy your faith.
but know that it is not necessarily your only option for telling god you love him.

No, you can still believe in god, even though you don't worship him. I believe in the bible, but I don't follow the "rules" that are in the bible.
