This thread will showcase my art, and is pretty much here for critiques, and the like.
I'm just a young artist on a quest for self improvement! So, any comments, questions, critiques, and critisem will be greatly appreciated, just so long as it is beneficial to my arting skills! xD
So, without furthur ado, heres my stuff!
This is probably the earliest thing I'll post here, just a fun sketch turned into a more detailed picture
Ugh, crap, I'm getting used to this site's posting procedure...
So heres that picture...
I'll just be putting all this in chronilogical order, heres one of my personal favorites, the watermark leads to another site this art is on, most of you might have heard of it, but yeah...
From what I see here you like to keep things pretty monochrome. It's pretty neat, though looking at the 2nd picture you posted I couldn't help but notice that his arms seem a bit short I don't know if that was intentional but it seems wonky to me. But besides that good pieces would like to see more.
Art is vast as Love is deep, Trying to Explain the two is like trying to discover everything there is about the ocean.
My art thread
My comic thread
Like I mentioned in your other thread I'm no fan of the silhouettes. On top of that I think the texture overlay on the first one is too pronounced and perhaps a bit too rough.
I like your drawings, but the way you present them really takes away from them. It makes your pics cluttered and messy, not pleasant to look at.

So heres that picture...
xD I'd be honored to!

Yeah, I really need to learn to mix it up, I do have one that isn't monochrome, which I will post ASAP.
The arms do seem to be a bit short, thanks for mentioning that!

Yes, I remember, The new ones won't be like that!
And I totally agree, 100% with the first one, I do need to stay away from textures, atleast on finished products!
Time for the next piece... This was a sketch that I decided to overkill with textures because I thought it looked cool xD
Yeah, I know the colors make it hard to see, its still monochrome, and all that stuff, but next picture won't be all texturified and monochrome-y!

I wouldn't say that necessarily, having a subtle (+- 5%) texture overlay over your entire picture can be very helpfull for tying it together. You just need to use something with a smaller grain, and make it less opaque.

Hm, thanks for the tip!
Another one! This one is more experimenting with style, and trying out digital painting.
It's actually a request for a friend xD
Heres another!
Another doodle, with more style researching and practices, etc.
Its supposed to be transparent... hopefully
Haven't been up to much lately, but I guess I'd post this sketch thingy~
Any comments on the anatomy, and construction?
Oh, yeah and that pose thingy in the top left is probably terrible and the worst anatomical thing you'll evar see, so, yeah, lol
I make mini commitments of attemping to draw, 1 hour each day... which I think really isn't enough, but I always skimp out on it...
I blame Minecraft! Damn you Notch! xD
So yeah, hows my face structure or whatever you wanna call it?
Are the noses too pointy? Short? Long? They annoy me alot... So does hair...
I pretty much doodled the Halo monitor and Half-life engineer crossover thingy... Blue and grey are sweet colors
i really like how you have a broad spectrum of styles :) it's really good to be well rounded in your art.
..

Positioning of the words "In the lab" is awkward since it's supposed to be read after "gum" but it's positioned in front of it.

Thanks ^^
But I'm still trying to blend them all together to create my own uniqie style ;p

I guess... I already handed it in, and it was a quick 1 hour thing, so, as long as I get a good grade xD
Its been a while, but I've been making a couple good doodles...
Just a question, do you think it would be better for me to go for more realism, or for a more stylized art type?
Pretty much compare the top sketch to all the others... Which do you think looks better?
You *really* aren't doing those sketches any justice by posting them at 200px wide. Full size for the first one foranybody interested.
Anyhow, teh answer can only be more realistic. The reason isn't so much a sadistic hate for stylized work (I quite enjoy the...geometricness, I suppose?) as much as it is the fact that it is easier to transistion from real to stylized than it is to do in reverse. In the case of the former, you just have to exaggerate the features as you see fit since you know the underlying elements, but with stylized->real, you'd have to go through the trouble of figuring out the anatomy of the critter, the properties of the materials, the behaviour of light etc.
I think you'll understand one is easier than the other.

Thanks for that... I sort of dislike how NG downsizes stuff like that... >.<
I've heard that realism is the best to learn first, then to go off to stylize, just like you've said. Therefore, I guess I'll keep on with realism, and use that to improve the stylized art farther later.
Thanks again for your imput ^^
A pretty sweet doodle done in chemistry and other odd times of the day at school...
Another doodle I digitally inked and colored in photoshop CS2...
I really hate cell shading now, anyone know any good digital painting tutorials, or some kinda of practice I could do?
A political cartoon assignment for history class...
I guess I'll just post it...
Some doodle that turned into a thumbnail of something, I guess
More of a lighting practice I guess
