Speakers Going Hammer

In the music video for Soulja Boy's hit single, Speakers Going Hammer, it shows Soulja Boy pulling into a nice white suburb with his regiment of "ghetto" culture warriors. The video starts off in black and white, to show how the white suburb is "plain, boring, and mediocre", but when Soulja Boy and his contingent arrives it starts to add color. You might say, "But so what? This is obviously a reference to the popular film Pleasantville", but you would be wrong.

This is actually showing white society that adding a bit of "ghettoness" to your life will cause you to have "color" and be interesting, while lacking in it will show how boring you really are to the rest of society. This music video is a not-so-subtle example of the cultural inversion that has been happening in the Western world since the conclusion of World War II.

The fact that Soulja Boy is a rather famous Newgrounds member is also very sinister.

The reason many of you enjoy 'shitty music' is because, thanks to this post-modern cultural inversion, we, as a society, are glamorizing and actively promoting 'shit' to combat the 'evil' and old traditions. When you are young and less used to participating in society, it can be easy to maintain a true heart and really value real art. Soon though, the effects of media subversion and information saturation will take a toll on your mind and you will start to enjoy whatever they are currently promoting as 'trendy' or 'hip'.

Lil B is a good rapper who preaches a positive message. Although he uses his fair share of post-modern deconstruction in his lyrics (some might say TOO much), he is still not signed to a record label and has maintained his artistic freedom without being restrained and or weaponized by a record label (unlike his friend Soulja Boy).
