It's hit and miss. It's gotten very politically/religiously preachy lately and is really riding on being edgy and shocking these days more than genuinely funny.

I don't think it's gone beyond the ken of what is the acceptable borders of comedy, I just think it sometimes forgets it's making jokes and is instead making pointed statements at the screen about stuff instead and sprinkling it with comedy to pass it as such.

I just watched the whole series over summer and was very surprised how many memes came from the show.

It is easily the most animated show on TV and probably the best animated show of all time. What makes it better than something like "Family Guy" is that while it is crude, it is not mean-spirited. One episode made fun of Mormonism but said that if you were a genuinely good person, it didn't matter what you believed. Contrast this with an episode of "Family Guy" which ends with Brian saying that anyone who believes in God is a moron.
